Has anybody ever had acting lessons and did you find them worth your time?

I'm considering taking some because I'd like to be a voice actor and I'm not sure that I'm a good enough actor as I am now. I mean I'm not awful but I feel like my style is somewhat dated.

Really depends on how badly you want it yourself. What your chances are of making if, and how much it interferes with your preparation for getting a back-up occupation

If nothing else, classical training via Shakespeare couldn't send you amiss.

That's actually a really good idea. Those classically trained actor's sound awesome. Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian Mckellen, Brian Blessed ect. As long as I never have to wear tights then I'd definitely consider that avenue.

If you're not sure where to start it can definitely give you a good foundation, however I think experience is the most important part so even just for amateur parts you could try to find something once you've had a few lessons :)

Not that i'm an expert or anything - especially when it comes to voice acting!

They are 100% worth it for both developmental and networking purposes. Any teacher worth there salt will teach you at least one new thing, and you never know if that's the thing that will get you your next job, so it's good to have a lot of techniques in your arsenal. And if they're in the local theater scene, you never know when they'll recommend you to someone.
