Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi; I have never played a Dragon Ball video game and I want to know which one is best for me

I have never played a Dragon Ball video game and was interested in which one has the best story mode. I want to play from the very beginning of Dragon Ball to the end of GT. I did some research and I heard the best games for this were Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3. However, I only have enough money for one of them. I am mostly interested in single player and I heard that Budokai Tenkaichi 2 has far better single player as it has way more fights than Budokai Tenkaichi 3, but other people say Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is a better game. Which one do you think I should pick up? Would you recommend a different one? Thanks!!!

So if you want the game for the story, get Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Someone correct me if I've confused the two games.. ^ ^;

If you want it for story, you definitely have to go BT2!! It starts off from the Saiyan Saga and puts all the movies into order from after the sagas they were intended. Then it goes to GT and then you get to play from Dragon Ball. As well as that, if you win special conditions (???) matches in particular sagas you unlock 'what if' scenarios in which you get to play what would happen had things panned out differently e.g. what would happen if piccolo beat raditz from their first encounter and got amnesia during the battle. The story mode on BT2 is un-parallel in my gaming experience, but for everything else BT3 is vastly superior.
