Both of these seem to be considered the best. But which is the better series? This should help me make the final decision on whether to buy a PS2 and BT3 or not.

滅Are you frightened?

Lets put it like this, one is a Tekken like game and the other is like Naruto Storm.

One is like a fighter and one is like DBZ.

Hard to choose tbh.

I have Budokai 3, it's awesome, but it definitely is a standard fighter with dbz all over it. So Tenkaichi has a more complex fighting system? Haven't played any Naruto games btw.

This dude took the words right out of my mouth! I actually bought a ps2 a few years back and one of the reasons why was to get the tenkaichi series back! Never regretted it! It works on a 360 camera movement which is dope, so you're not limited to side scrolling action. Plus it's allot more fast paced than budokai is! Once you get going it's hard to stop playing. If you're getting it for a story play I'd suggest getting tenkaichi 2 first. The story is much more in depth and the way you do your characters up is allot better, but tenkaichi 3 is excellent for its extras. They're both reasonably cheap so I suggest getting them both =p

Budokai, Budokai 3, and you can go ahead and throw in Infinite World. Loved these games. Good battle system, no need for online multiplayer crap. You actually needed to go out and make friends and bring them to your house if you wanted to play two players. Good music too. Also the rosters weren't filled with dumb and silly characters like the tenkaichi games where. They looked better too. And no DBZ game to date has had a better story mode than Budokai 1.

I personally prefer the Budokai series, but especially Budokai 3. 1 and 2 wasn't too special to me. I'm trying to get a new PS2 so I can play BT 1,2,3 again. I do own them all.

The budokai series has better content IMO, but the Tenkaichi series has better gameplay. I can't decide which is better.

I've always loved the Budokai series and to this day Budokai 3 remains one of my all time favorite DBZ game. But I've always wanted a free roaming DBZ game where I had pretty much full control over my character and I could just move around in my environment. It's why I was so disappointed in Sagas. But then the Tenkachi series came out and it was so fun. It gave me everything I wanted in a dBZ game, large character roster, free roaming action. It was my dream come true.

I much prefer the Tenkaichi games. They just feel more like DBZ to me, while Budokai feels more like a traditional 2D fighter and I never was a big fan of those.

You can in Tenkai 2, but I'm not sure about the first one. I haven't played the first one in yeeeaarrrsssss!!! I know you can't in the third one, but with the way the game is set out you don't need to.

I have a very unpopular opinion, so yeah

Budokai 3 is lame and overrated.

The fighting mechanics are nothing like DBZ, no flying what so ever.

People complain that Ultimate Tenkaichi is luck based, Budokai 3's Dragon Rush is even worse

The way ultimate moves work is really annoying. God forbid you have any lag or fatigue. It punishes the player if they are weak while using an ultimate, which a is a real d*** move, imo

Unlocking is a pain since a lot of it is luck based. What game have you heard of where you have to earn the right to use Death Beam with Freeza? The shop's stock is random, and a lot of it is very expensive too. Another problem is that without "Breakthrough", you can't get everything you want. Even then, Freeza, Cooler, and Vegeta lose their secondary transformations

Ki blasts are unbelivably easy to spam in this game and do a fair chunk of damage too.

Some characters are simply better than others. Some characters don't even have ultimates
