I personally feel it gets reviewed harshly. So many people get upset over the story mode because it's short and it skips over allot of the actual story.. But as far as a game as a whole goes, I think it ranks among the best in contention! The extra modes on the game are fantastic! The mission 100 battles are where I feel the games potential is realised.100 different battles, ranging from all kinds of different teams and circumstances. Along with Sim dragon, survival, all the tournament modes, and the familiar and improved upon fighting style that was introduced to us in Budokai Tenkaichi 2, I'd say this game was a major improvement on the second instalment to the series without putting too much emphasis on a thrashed out story mode! Any body agree? Or do I stand alone in this fight?

It's usually this or Budokai 3 as peoples favourites. The problem when it comes to critics is DBZ isn't exactly something everyone will want to play, it's potential players are limited to fans of the show, and not all reviewers will be fans.

Here's the way I look at the Tenkaichi series; the first one was the trial game where they introduced the idea for the new fighting style and gathered the ideas for the next one. Second game was where they implemented the new ideas and thats where the lengthy story mode game into action. Now most people who played the third game played the second one as well, it's something the game designers would have to take into account! The story by this point, lets face it, has been done to hell! So I understand why they didn't want to put so much emphasis on the story in tenkaichi 3 and focused the storage and space on the extra modes, and that's where the game takes off! If you look back to some critic reviews on the second game the extra modes get a backlash! So the way I look at it is you play number two for the story, and play number three for everything else. The series ties in together nicely that way and if you look at it from this point of view, it keeps everyone happy! I might be acting a touch over critical myself when I look at it from this point of view but I believe the series works well like this!
