In the U.S, the first amendment would guarantee this is never made law[1] As far as other countries go I would still advise against it. You can't hold a parent from being a parent even if you believe the beliefs they give to them aren't aligned with reality. Who's reality are you infringing upon? [1] Unless the 'religion' being taught can be considered a cult or something of danger to a child. In which case it would have no effect on the 1st amendment |

That's a pretty interesting Discussion. Why is religion not a cult? Or os religion simply a cult with a lot of believers? |

I actually had a discussion thread on this very thing about religion and cults. I think we came to the agreement that (and OFG can help me out on this if I got it wrong, it has been a long frakking time since I even looked at that thread) A Cult becomes a Religion when it has passed a trial period where it's beliefs have been given time to mature beyond the strangeness of its first beginning AND does not carry any tradition that would be harmful to its practitioners in the long run. While you could argue any religion that stops any particular civil right of choice as having failed part two, they generally don't treat those they ostracize as part of their group to begin with and therefore technically pass the second requirement. Again, OFG if I got that wrong, please correct me at will. |

You should be made aware of other religions and cultures, if you are raised by your parents believing one religion and not taught any others at school, then you aren't going to know any different. There should be no religious agenda in schools, it should be purely factual, but that's not the same as banning it. |
