Discussion about what is fact

That thread that Happy made had some recent posts that just got me thinking. Is there truly any reason to follow the manga statements as law? I understand that the manga is the basis for the series, but Dragon Ball is a booming franchise now, with multiple forms of media. Considering the fact that there is no confirmed canon, why be so quick to dismiss recent statements?

If you're going to be following the recent Dragon Ball additions, you should follow the facts being made as well. It may have been a long time since he last truly dealt with Dragon Ball, and there may be some contradictions going on, but maybe in the near future it'll all be fleshed out.

Y'all treat this like it's the Bible or sum

滅Are you frightened?

I don't see what's wrong with going along with something like 1/2 the universe deal.

Toriyama's QAs are just as reliable as the guidebools imo.

When it comes to fights or something like that, I'll gladly take what the manga gives. But if I need something explored a bit more I'll take it.

If there are contradictions, you always go with the original material. Why go with something that's out-of-Universe and taking place after the original material?

Inconsistency is what you mean. A contradiction is when everyone assumed Birusu was the strongest in all of Z, but was contradicted by Birusu himself when he said his master is superior.

'Original material'

I don't know, this would be a good argument, if the case was no new material backed up by the original author was being made and worked on today. But it's not the case. Because of that, plus the fact that there is no official canon, I disagree heavily. Once he announces the series as officially over, then this can be mentioned. Until then, it's not necessarily the truth. To me of course.

A fact is something that cannot be opposed. If it can be opposed, it's subjective until proven otherwise.

So, how would you react if an answer in an interview went against a statement/fact in the manga?

Good question. If a fact in the manga were contradicted by something recent, I would let it remain a grey area until either the series ends, in which case I just might take the manga over the recent interview, or until he fixes the contradiction.

The " Beerus isn't the strongest in all of Z because Whis is stronger " is some of the craziest logic I've ever heard. It's merely common sense that's required to determine that...

I may have read GokuDaFallen's post wrong. I've heard people try to say Vegetto > Beerus because Beerus being the strongest in all of Z being contradicted by Whis. Which is bull.

i am still trying to find that god dam interview -.- however

as stated before Akira Toriyama stated that the number didnt matter so he couldve easily adjusted it so the question is if he said its 1/2 of the universe and then go as far as to state that it couldve been 100 million or 100 thousands then what does that mean ? and also what about the illustration ?

Its a Fact that in the manga then Kamicolo states something like this " The Legend says that the serpent road is 1 million km" *LEGEND* does it count as a FACT that its 1 million or that its still a myth ? so basically by that line

you can automatically say that what Akira Toriyama stated and showed in his Illustration of Serpent road/snake way might /might not be illogical and might make sense

but the problem doesnt lie in how big snake way is snake way is 1/2 of the universe which is a fact stated by him and illustration which is a backup of his statement

I just want to know how to scale the Z-warriors speed if it indeedly is 1/2 of the universe

so first of all

1. "Legends" doesnt count as a FACT it counts as a myth

2. Manga Fact of snake way 1 million km however do notice it says ( Legend )

3. Fact its 1/2 of the universe and yes i will try and find the interview somehow to prove it

oh and the last thing is

the biggest problem is the story Contradicting each other out if what akira toriyama stated and illustrated is to be true so how would this explain anything ? thats the biggest problem here which i probably cant understand how akira would explain something like that

but my thoughts on this is that "If its official then its Original and it can be counted as *real* "

and thats what the illustration and the statement was
