Just out of curiosity , are the name puns that important?
Vegetto is used even though the correct name is Vegerot (which is cooler, imo).
Vegetto is the correct name since Kakarot is supposed to be Kakarotto. Vegetto
Yeah, but I'm talking about the names in an English sense. Why does Vegetto (the correct Japanese name) beat out Vegerot (the correct English name) in English media? Goku's Saiyan name in English didn't suddenly change to 'Kakarrotto', so Vegetto is just out of place.
Vegerot isn't even used in english media. Vegito is, which is the most ridiculous translation I've ever seen. Funimation was really obsessed with adding "i"s' to things back in the day. Karkarot should have been Kakarotto, that's what I'm saying. Not having done that really came back to bite Funimation in the a** as their name for Vegetto makes no sense. Fair enough, he should've been, but he wasn't, so 'Vegito' is Vegerot. You can't just abandon consistency and shove a poorly adapted Japanese name into an English series that has its own set of names.

Never said I was doing that. I'm a subs guy, so I abide by the Japanese names.

I use the Japanese names I prefer over the english names, is all. Freeza, Chaozu, Vegetto. Especially Chaozu, f*** that english spelling.
(How funny it would be if I were wrong about Chaozu's name) Yeah, I never got his dub name.
It's like Chait-zu.
How does an "ao" sound get changed to like "ait".
Chaozu, just flows off the keyboard.
Chaozu, Chaozu, Chaozu

Vegetto is used even though the correct name is Vegerot (which is cooler, imo). Yes they're. Its what the author intended. My parents intended my name to be Pudd. Why would I want people to read my characters and say Semen or pile of semen instead of Pudd. Yes the puns are important as it's their name.

Yes the puns are important as it's their name. Yes, but the entire point of localizing something is to make it appeal to the group that's the target demographic. I'd prefer names that I'm more comfortable with than tolerating names for the sake of puns, but that's just me.

Why is there an "i", it makes no sense! 'I' couldn't tell you.
But Freeza has the same dilemma.

'I' couldn't tell you. But Freeza has the same dilemma. That one isn't as bad, because it kind of works.
Nowhere in Chaozu's name is there any "i" sound, it's weird that the dub has it like that.

Yeah I don't think DBZ had it too bad. Kuririn is significantly more difficult to pronounce in English over Krillin. And also, Krillin's name is actually spelled "Kulilin" according to he hat he wore heading to Space in season two. Again, minor nitpick.
Now try going to a YUGIOH forum and having this discussion. It took me 5 hours of arguing with the arsehole about Honda or Yugi being Joey's best friend until I figured our Honda and Tristan are the same guy!

I don't really care about what names are used, the only ones that really bother me are the names the dub completely changed. There's Selpya to Fasha (And the rest of Bardock's crew) or "Bills", I still don't know where this came from, even Funi uses Beerus.

For the whole Chiaotzu business...think about it. The lettering and word choice fits with the way it is. For example take Italian.
When you say "Hello" or whatever in Italian you say "Ciao" You don't pronounce that as Cee-ow or Chee-ow...it's "chow"
So Chiao or Chow...Tzu...Chow-tzu...Chiaotzu...again this wasn't didn't have a problem with its word choice.
