Thoughts about his? Also, what exactly are printed comic edition works?

Toriyama answers some Fan Questions

Q: How would you position the Dragon Ball Z anime (TV series)?

A:I consider the TV animation to be in "one dimension" with the Manga. I have what I call Canon, which is the TV series and the original, printed comic edition works that are directly tied into continuity.

The Last GT Fighter

Sounds like the Anime + Manga = canon and form the main DBZ continuity. Like Spectacular Spiderman and Amazing Spider-Man still (usually) all happened (I.E. were canon) in the main continuity. And by this definition the other works in the universe (The Movies, Dragon Ball Online and GT) fall into the "Side Story/Secondary canon."

From the sounds of it, Toriyama-Sensei takes canon in the same way as Lucas-Sensei, in that he's got different levels of canon and the original works (Like in the Lucas example, the Movies trump all other canon, regardless of media or quality) but he's got wiggle room to say that other things have indeed "happened" in that universe.

Are you sure that isn't fake? I think that if Toriyama actually had explained what he thinks is "canon", using that exact word, this quote would come up way more often.

I don't think the "canon" part is real.

No, that's not a real Akira Toriyama Q&A. Neither him nor anyone involved with the production of the series in any capacity has ever used the word "canon" or anything that could roughly be translated as such.

What you've pasted comes from a Q&A collection that gets passed around a lot to prove (and/or lulz-convince) people about canonicity. It's pasted alongside other questions that ARE real and other stuff that is paraphrased from other materials.
