Was Freeza a skilled fighter or not? I think he was decently skilled, not a master, but at the very least Rusty Gohan level |

I wouldn't say he was unskilled, judging from his signature techniques. |

I think Freeza is way better than rusty Gohan. I think Freeza is up there will Piccolo or something, I guess. With his skills, Freeza could win a lot of rivaling fights. |

I'm with Gohan on this one, I feel like Frieza is very underrated skillwise. Gohan despite being around Dabura's level was very pitiful in his fight. Frieza on the other hand went blow for blow with Piccolo and SSJ Goku, who in my opinion are two of the top three skilled fighters in the series, when he was around their level. |

I don't see why Freeza's skill would even be underrated, he was holding his own against Goku, whom people claim to have great skill. The Nova Strike, anyone? |

The fact that Freeza can't even sense ki limits his skill dramatically for me. |

He's as skilled as Piccolo. He showed that in their fight. He just gets cocky about his power and drops his defenses. |

Really? The fact that Goku doesnt consider ki sensing much of an advantage against Freeza says plenty about Freeza's skill to me. |

Probably because he knew Freiza's power was still being hidden. Freiza, along with many other aliens, also can't sense subtle vibrations in the air and fight with his eyes closed like Goku can. He proves it during the time Goku realizes he can't sense ki. Even if he couldn't sense ki it wouldn't have mattered if he could use the latter ability. Freiza is skilled, but I wouldn't say properly trained. Though he does seem to have a natural affinity with technique. Edited by POOHEAD189, Jul 24 2014, 02:48 AM.

Goku/Vegeta: 10 Freeza: 8 Rusty Gohan: 5 Just a few comparison notes on skill. I consider Goku and Vegeta to be the best in the series. |

Yeah but doesn't Frieza actively make up for it by using his telepathy to detect Goku's... for lack of a better term... brain function? Kinda nulifying this hole in his skill gap? He's displayed the highest level of telekinetic skills by far in the series, his array of techniques is over the top, and he's easily one of the fiercest fighters in the series, making use of every bit of his body as a living weapon. That and... he was never really ever remotely stated to be unskilled ever. All the quotes pre-Trunks that I remember is that Frieza was "The Fiercest Fighter in the Universe" or the "Greatest Warrior in the Universe" or other things to that effect. His physical martial arts skills, which apprently bested every other fighter bar Goku to that point and his ability to seemlessly manipulate Ki and use telekinesis and psychokinesis, even at the same time in some instances, really give me the feeling that he was easily THE most skilled. If not he breaks the top ten hands down. Over all, on a 1 - 10 scale, I'd conservatively give Frieza a 9.5. |

I just want to point out that the Goku/Vegeta comparison is at the end of the series. Freeza was easily the most skilled in the fight against Goku. Just too much. |

Cool. Like I said, he's AT LEAST Rusty Gohan level. Freeza does have skill, probably from some form of mental training(something like Krillin and Gohan's duels on the trip to Namek) but he does lack some proper training which cuts on his prowess in combat. Lack of ki sensing being one of them and his inability to fight at 100%. That being said, even Trunks and Vegeta made the mistake of bulking up and Vegeta was unable to sense ki at first. I'd dare say that as far as villains go, only Cell surpassed him in skill (Vegeta wasn't a villain when he got that training and Boo's skill drew from rusty Gohan) |
