At which distance do we officially make a cut-off point and definitely say "This is Travel Speed Distance and This is Combat Speed"

Just to note, travel speed factors in acceleration which gives it an overall total advantage over combat speed.

If it's long distance it's travel. So goku and frieza racing to porunga, gotenks flying around the planet, buuhan flying to goku and vegeta, etc.

If it's being used in a fight, it's usually combat

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

Good question.

I think combat distance is the distance you can travel without needing to use bukuujutsu, which depends on your power, the strength of gravity, your over-all size compared to your opponent, your physical abilities like stretching your arms, etc.

Of course the rules of the fight kinda change when they're fighting in the air.

Gotenks circling the earth dozens of times would count as a travel feat ( a FTL one as well ;) )

Well. some "People" like to think that leaving more than two yards is a traveling speed no matter how short the distance is. Combat speed is just how fast you can fight at high speeds.

Then what's the difference between travelling and combat speed if all's the difference is what you're doing? Speed should be the same no?

@King Kakarot
Mind proving how it's faster than light? Could've taken damn 30 minutes and the way it's played out seems to support that. Otherwise Piccolo would've found Gotenks LONG before 1 minute was left of fusion.

No. Look at burter. His travel speed is above ginyu' but ginyu's combat speed is higher.

Look at mike Tyson and usain bolt.

Gohan is many times faster than a bullet, but his travel speed is only Mach 2.5(?)edit: actually idk for sure if this is a good example

If they put more energy into a fist rather than moving their whole body, their fist is going to go much faster

If a character is able to fly at mach 10 normally from point A to point B, then that obviously means that he can move with that speed while punching a guy, too. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the character is also able to do this in practice. If he isn't agile and skilled enough, he may not be able to control this level of speed while in combat. Dodging, attacking and maneuvering around the opponent are all significantly more complex than just traveling a certain distance, and hence need a greater level of skill.

Because they both have a different motive.

Traveling - Getting from my house to a store across the street

Combat - Physically moving parts of my body to perform an act of violence

Just add speed with them.
