Yes, the English dub desperately needed a new dub, honestly I prefer the Kai English dub over the original Funimation dub but, that's not the point. What was the point of Toei animation doing this? The original Japanese one was fine, why make a revised version. Sure they removed fillers but all they did was remove the filler episodes rather than scenes. anyone could of skipped the filler episodes on the original anime. |

They've removed more than just the filler episodes. The point was probably to revitalize the series, get more money. Fine with me, I enjoy Kai. |

They did remove quite a few filler scenes, and made a bunch of the long drawn out silent parts much shorter. Kai is not only for people who don't want as much filler, but also people who might not have time on their hands to watch 290+ episodes. In reality it was all just milking the franchise though. |

The dialogue was much closer to the manga with Kai. Not 100% but it was better than before. Plus I did appreciate a lot of the more tedious parts being removed. |

The business approach was more money. The selling point was a much more faithful version of the anime. |

That was only really in the dub (I think). The original Japanese was already really close to the Manga for the lines that appeared in both. Funi just lucked out that they got a 2nd chance to dub the series more properly, but they didn't have anything to do with Kai's creation. |

I never watched the dub. Even the Japanese was closer. |

I'm watching the latest episode now. When Vegeta is in the tournament grounds, after turning Majin, #18, who can't sense Ki, says "I've never felt a Ki like this before". Nice to see they did such a good job of getting rid of all the plotholes... |

Removing fillers and making the anime closer to the manga. The dialogue is much better in Kai. Both the dub and original Japanese were inaccurate in DBZ, seeing how even the Japanese had Pure Buu > Gohan-Buu. Kai >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Japanese >>>>> English |

They could have done much better. Completely redraw the series. Add real filler from the author. There's Fons of opportunities to add real beneficial filler. |

I wanted to pick on the issue of the Japanese audio. Don't forget that Toei lost the original audio masters to Dragon Ball as well as Z. The Japanese Dragon Box audio is absolutely horrible, sad to say, so for people listening on even decent speakers it wasn't going to cut it for a BD release. http://animepast.net/Crisis/ This site has an excellent breakdown. I've made threads about it here before, someone at VegettoEX's site needs to write this up so it's somewhere permanent and this doesn't keep getting forgotten. |

Other than removing filler, there isn't much of a point outside giving us a new, far superior English dub. Japanese Z > English Kai > Japanese Kai >>> English Z. |
