Genki-Dama Weighs More Than a Planet?

Chapter: 314 (DBZ 120), P13.4-6
Goku: "I-I didn't want to use this Genki-Dama. It will probably have too much force and squash the entire planet...But if I don't defeat Freeza now, the universe itself will be in trouble...I don't know if I'll be able to pull this off right, but I've got to do it...You planets close to Namek! Give me just a little bit of your genki...!"

How do you guys take this? Does the Genki-Dama weigh so much that it would crush a planet or is it simply a way to describe the amount of destructive capability it holds? I'm not too sure. If it's true than Freeza lifts like a boss.

destructive capability for sure. if the weight of genki dama would be larger then the earth would literally fall toward the genki dama

It depends. You could argue that it's heavy enough to clear all the life off Namek and make a huge dent in the crust, as it did, but I doubt it would be heavy enough to do anything like squash the planet.

Does force = weight?

Well, there are some people whom don't accept the Herms Translation and go with the (Viz?) adaptation instead.

force = mass x acceleration

i guess you can make arguments for both sides. he could be referring to the weight or the destructive capability, i'm not sure myself.

Force = Mass x Acceleration, but Force = Pressure x Area too.

I'm not much into physics, but doesn't this thing requires energy into the mix too?

He says "crush" and "force". I'm assuming he's talking about the weight. Weight=force doesn't it? Idk how heavy it is though. If it's enough it crush the planet then I guess more than the earth?

See how the mere presence of that thing is agitating the sea/ocean of Namek:

That thing has so much physical inertia that the mere contact with the planet would reduce te latter to dust, and, indeed, that's exactly what we are told by the manga itself.

Well, Freeza is holding it, he is physically holding something with the force of squash a planet.

I mean, what more do we want? This feat shows how really physically strong are DBZ characters when they seriously fight, and it is perfectly consistent with their enormous power.

How far down does the Genki Dama go? We see Free a eventually fall to it, but does it just explode then?

Nah, that contradicts the 40 ton thing. It seems more like a metaphor that anything else. Not all statements have to be taken literally. The remnants would have to be massive. For example, when Kid Buu was pushing it back he was able to use the planet to ground himself. He didn't even go under a foot lower which would be impossible if it really weighed as much as a planet.

Freeza is holding basically a "mass" of Ki, obviously he can do that thanks to his own Ki; after that, he can't sustain the power of the Genkidama anymore and thus it hits him and basically explodes on him (as it should be, since Freeza was the target after all).

No, it doesn't.
Also it seems you are implying that 40 tons are the physcal limits of DB characters, which is a funny joke sure, but not something to bring up when the discussion is serious, as it is now.

40 tons is Goku's physical limit. Strength can by augmented by Ki.

40 tons would be the limit of base Goku having the help of his entire body. SSJ is a different case. And yeah I'm aware it's seen as a joke by (lack of a better word) DBZ fanboys.

Last I heard he had a ki aura when he was lifting 40 tons.

What type of physical limit?
Wearing weights all over the body as it is a sort of gravity training? Yes.
Lifting? No.

No, it's seen as a joke when people put the words "40 tons", "lifting" and "limit" together as you are doing now.

He had an aura when he went SSJ, but that kinda happens when you go SSJ. He's withholding Ki to train his physical strength.
