As many of you have heard, the singer of the Christian Metal band "As I Lay Dying" was convicted recently after a 2013 conspiracy to kill his wife. Lambesis tried to hire a hitman to kill his wife, while he planned to use his three kids as an alibi. His lawyer tried to pass of the ol' "damage from steriods" as an excuse for his behavior. Lambesis was an avid fitness nut. Lambesis was convicted and received a six year sentence that he's now trying to get reduced. He also came out as an Atheist, saying that he and the bandmates used Christianity to promote sales of their music; which personally, I think is a bunch of crap... simply because I don't know many of my metal-head friends who avidly listen to As I lay Dying. What are your thoughts on this? I personally think that six years is fair considering that legally he could've got up to nine. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Jul 12 2014, 02:01 PM.

Do the crime, do the crime. Course he never actually murdered his wife but if the intention is so clearly there, there's not much difference. Murderers have been out in less time so I'm not sure what to think here, if he gets out is he really going to be a different man? Either he's going to feel sorry for what he tried to do or is going to resent his wife, 6 years of build up and potential roid-rage. Could just do the dirty work himself out of spite. So on the one hand he doesn't deserve much more than 6 since no murder took place but on the other if the intention was there who's to say it'll go away? Unless he goes all born again Christian if he hated his wife so much that he'd hire someone to kill her jail's not gonna change that hate. Guess it depends on how much he cares about the kids. Suppose they could go in to witness protection if he seems volatile towards his release, they can't really keep him in longer so that's the safest option, though a hassle for the family. |

I agree. And it's not the act that gets you in trouble, is the conspiracy. It's different if you kill your wife in a rage, but if you actually plan her murder, legally it's a completely different ballpark; and it should be. |

lmao yeah to add on to that I don't know to many metal fans who are religious. Anyways, I think they should keep him as long as he can. Anybody who tries to pay to have someone killed is just as bad as the killer or maybe worse. And the fact that he tried to do that to his wife, the mother of his children, is a further extent of how messed up this guy is. tbh, I'm not sure if 6 years is good enough. Unless you want to consider both Christian and Satanic metal (Black Metal). I listen to both to be entirely honest, and I find Satanic stuff to be much more in your face with their belief than anything any Christian artist does. However, most Satanic bands don't actually practice Satanism, they just use the theme to make music. The ones from Europe (particularly Sweden and Norway) actually usually are true practitioners of Satanism. I love the Satanic band Ghost simply for the beauty of their lyrics and their visual artform. Do I believe any of what they sing about? Nope. I don't think many of the band members do either, even though they are from Sweden. They also aren't really metal to be honest, but a classic metal sound is the closest thing that they come to. If Satanic Metal existed in the early 70s, they'd be the poster-child. As for As I Lay Dying (Tim Lambesis's band), I don't really listen to their stuff because I just find them to be a rip-off of another band that I like called "All That Remains" because their lyrical style and vocal style is nearly identical to ATR. The only song I really know from As I Lay Dying is their song "Parallels". Their music isn't really blatantly Christian though. The only Chrisitan band that I really listened to was Flyleaf, and it was when their original singer Lacey Mosely was still with them (in this next video), not the new chick they have now. I don't even know her name. This is just a vid from Tim Lambesis's band As I Lay Dying ("Parallels") However, you have Satanic bands who are blatant about their belief: Ghost (BC) "Year Zero (LIVE)" Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Jul 13 2014, 01:29 PM.
