Something I've noticed in these forums is that the first three movies (Curse of the Blood Rubies, Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle & Mystical Adventure) get ignored with people starting with Dead Zone as the first. I find this odd as they give the obvious answer to are the films in canon to the anime (They're not, it's an alternate reality) and I feel that Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle is one of the best films and has a villain that isn't based/ripped off on a villain from the manga. So why do we ignore them? Edited by Gretnablue, Jul 2 2014, 11:01 AM.

Don't forget Path to Power, the 4th Dragon Ball movie that was produced along with GT after the original 13 DBZ films. Anyway, they're decidedly lacking in terms of power levels, so the average Dragon Ball forum community has little to no interest in them. They're great and fun movies, though. Just them being mentioned makes me want to watch them again... |

I would definitely recommend picking up FUNimation's Dragon Ball Movie 4-pack while it's still pretty cheap and easy to find. All four movies are a lot of fun and totally worth owning, now that FUNimation's finally got the rights to Movie 1 (and the first 13 episodes) back after so many years. FUNi's remastering job on them is all-in-all decent, too.

One of the things I didn't like about the DB movies is that they spent too long in the beginnings re-telling the events of DB, albeit differently. I understand they're non-canon and such and they're trying to give the audience background, but they're crammed in there and feel rushed. That said though, I really did enjoy mystical adventure and the way it introduced bora and upa as well as tien and chiaotzu. Chiaotzu's reaction to Shen revealing his plan was a little underwhelming though. Arale's appearance in the movie as well as DB makes me want to check out Dr. Slump as well |
