Should we question the power of oozaru?

Vegeta stated that his oozarru form was ten times as powerful as his normal form. However Goku was able to damage his eye and for a while evade his attacks. Oozaru Vegeta's speed was nothing like Captain Ginyu's but technically they should have been equal. Even if you use the arguement that Vegeta had lost a lot of power after the battle with Goku, he should still be leagues above Goku if it was truly a ten times increase.

What I believe instead is that the raw strength was ten times more as opposed to a general power level increase.

It increases battle power, but Goku injuring his eye is the same question I came up with this morning. Vegeta was already injured, but no so much that a generic ki blast, coming from a weakened warrior, can hurt his eye and having him screaming in agony like he did.

Chapter: 233 (DBZ 39), P6.2
Oozaru Vegeta: “Wanna hear something good?... When Saiyans become Oozaru, their battle power becomes 10 times what it is as a human!!!!"

It's almost as if factors other than raw power (unweildy size, speed, weak spots) had some bearing on the battle! :O

An eye is a very sensitive organ. No matter how strong you are, any attack to your eye will still hurt. Goku sent ki into Vegeta's eye, so I'm not surprised he was blinded for a while.

I thought that too. But I thought if a gap was large enough, something like that wouldn't matter.

They can shoot KI from their mouth so that KI attack would be 10 times bigger I think.

I could have sworn there was a line where Goku said Vegeta's speed was the same as base, but it appears I may have just made it up. Anyway, what Super Saiyan said, the eye is a sensitive area, plus Vegeta was caught kind of off guard, he wasn't planning Goku to attack and wouldn't have braced for anything.

I would agree if it hit his chest, or anywhere else on his body. Goku shot his eye for a reason, it was the only place that he could deal damage to.

True that. I was honestly thinking it was more of a deal for the story, but the sensitive eye deal makes sense. Off guard and not expecting anything as well is bonus.

What about his speed. Would his size mean that he was barely any faster than before despite the huge increase in power? Because someone at 180,000 would usually be popping up behind their opponent at blinding speed.

Izanagi!

Vegeta was weakened quite a bit before his transformation, what with getting hit with the Kamehameha and creating fake moon. His power was < 18,000 and his speed was likely lowered quite a bit.

Kaioken x2/3 Goku > Oozaru Vegeta (Speed)

Vegeta : 18,000
Vegeta (Weakened) : 8,000/9,000
Oozaru Vegeta (Weakened) : 80,000/90,000

Something like that.

Even so he should still be faster than Burter right?

The oozaru speed was stated to be impressive, but only because Vegeta was so large. I think it's best if you consider his speed to remain the same as his base power, but moved into the huge body. If Vegeta had a speed level of 8000, then that would explain Kaioken Goku being able to avoid him. Kaioken Goku may have been at about 12,000 at that point in time, so it all fits in nicely.
