Goku was in the healing chamber, so he would have still been weaker than Gohan's rage power.

Firefox Favourite Manga Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Assassination Classroom, Deadman Wonderland	Gohan has short bursts throughout the series where he is indeed stronger than Goku, but as a fighter, he didn't get stronger than him until the Cell Arc. Gohan's hidden ki burst during the fight with Raditz placed him as "stronger than Goku", but I wouldn't actually consider him a "stronger fighter" because at that point in time, he doesn't know how to fight. Gohan's other burst during the Freeza Arc against third form Freeza could've been stronger than Goku at the time, but we don't know where Goku was at that point in time in his massive zenkai increase. However, Gohan actually surpassed Goku as a fighter during the Cell Arc. Even before he goes Super Saiyan 2 against Cell, he is stated to be stronger than Goku. And Gohan believing that Goku wasn't even trying that hard against Cell is evidence that he was stronger.
