ss im throwing it out cause it doesnt make much sense i get that gotenks got stronger but u have to add in the gag/hope like element in there Chapter: 489 (DBZ 295), P11.5 Context: seeing Gotenks after he’d trained in the Room of Spirit and Time Piccolo: “He-he really is different…! He really has greatly powered up…! Th-this just might…!” gotenks at this moment as rays of light coming off of him, he seems like a godly figure before piccolo i dare say piccolo is mesmerized by gotenks, its not so much gotenks had a chance but the hope of doing so from piccolo, just like kaioshin saying gohan could stack up to fat buu, it was wishful thinking it was hope cause thats all they had at the time Edited by Havoc_Wreaker, Jun 27 2014, 12:40 AM.

Well see, I still it goes back to them being children and not having any experience at all. They could have been equal to post Zeta Sword Gohan, but if they don't have any experience and that follows over into Gotenks, then it seems logical to be worried because they don't know what to do in a situation where everything is at stake and one stupid mistake could not only cost them the fight, but also cost them the Earth and the Universe. I still think their lack of experience in fighting and training and maturity should be considered when reading that line. Now, I might be the only one who see's that whole line like I do, but taking what I've said about their experience and maturity and what's been established about hybrids and having a training partner... I find it very logical for them to make serious gains and it not be noted. Just to make things clear, I don't see Post ROSAT Goten and Trunks equal to Post Zeta Sword Gohan. I was just using that as an example. |

Well Trunks does say he thinks they are probably the same as Buu with their regular fusion. Then they want to pretend they are out of options and all is lost and then bam whip out Ssj3. That's pretty much what they did, in their regular fusion as Super Saiyans. If their Base was equal to Buu, wouldn't there be no need to go Ssj3? Wouldn't Ssj be overkil? |

Overkill would be an understatement. Which is why I think The Namek's statement is contradicted by the physical evidence. However, his other statement about Goten and Trunks I don't think is contradicted. |

No, it's apparent that Boo made a power up, or his ki wasn't able to be sensed in the RoSaT. SSJ Gotenks was still able to do some damage to Boo (head bash attack, ghosts and maybe one other attack), and then all of a sudden Boo was near equal to SSJ 3 Gotenks. |

I think it's a joke by the author. The serious line is Regular Fusion ( AKA Super Saiyan ) is about on par with Super Buu. Which it ended up looking like more or less right? Ssj Gotenks did pretty damn good against Buu, and then the " oh no I'm out of power " stuff came out. Gotenks was going to turn Ssj3 and finish Buu off, little did anyone know that Buu still has massive reserves. |

The gag scenes don't do anything other than show Gotenks' inferiority to Evil Boo without SSJ3. Piccolo's statement, on the other hand... This is a double-edged sword. I could use this to say that Gotenks was wrong about his strength. Just sayin. That's not all they had. Gotenks had Super Saiyan. If Base Gotenks were weaker than Evil Boo (by this, I mean whatever Evil Boo was on the lookout), then Piccolo would've called him an idiot for not turning Super Saiyan. This would be more in character. |

@ki is a lie: Thing is, it seems like there is a very clear read on the lookout, both Piccolo and kids came up with the same conclusion. Then Boo's ki appeared to be different within the RoSaT, just what I noticed at least. |

And what sense does it make for Piccolo to think Base Gotenks has a chance and then proven he doesn't, and then not flip out about Ssj Gotenks? Surely if a Base fighter had a chance against someone and proved not, you wouldn't expect the guy to be able to fight the Ssj version of himself. Shouldn't Piccolo be rejoicing that Gotenks is a Super Saiyan and now he can easily win? |

Well, he does later on. He doesn't exactly flip out, but he says they had a chance. If you mean that he should've said it right off the bat, the emphasis during that scene was placed on the fact that Gotenks could transform after fusing. AT seemed to be taking it one surprise at a time, and it was only a few pages later when Piccolo finally commented on Gotenks' strength anyways. I don't see any issue. I'm not talking about what he said when Gotenks turned Super Saiyan. If I'm correct, you want to argue that Base Gotenks (post) isn't as strong as Piccolo's “Th-this just might…!” implies, yes? What I'm trying to say is that if Gotenks were as strong (or weak) as you think, Piccolo would have called him an idiot for not turning Super Saiyan – just like he did when Gotenks ran off to fight Fat Boo in base form, which is why I prefer to take Piccolo's statement as it is. |

he doesnt say anything aloud but he has a really worried expression saying ''what the'' and u see him sweating and questions why they didnt start as super saiyans so still a bad reaction then next scene is happy and rejoicing fusion was a success......? makes no sense piccolo has mad hope for gotenks cause at the time, that was the only hope, no gohan or goku, no ssj gotenks to his knowledge cause they already fused, gotenks in base powered up alright but piccolo let it go to his head |
