I'm number three.  I thought it was lame compared to the first, it made no sense and was a lame excuse to get Vegeta to Kakarrot's level. |

Super Saiyan:  Sorry I had to. OP: I would have to agree with FP Perfect Cell vs SSJ2 Gohan. It wasn't even a fight, just Cell being beat down by Gohan. Edited by Rogafufuken, Jun 26 2014, 12:39 AM.

O rly??? I hated that battle all the same. The exchanges were epic, what with screams about Saiyan pride and self hatred, but the actual battle was trash. It was modern DBZ. The action was lackluster, slow, powerless, and trying too hard. It didn't feel like they hated each other except when they spoke; during their original clash, it was a real, desperate battle to the death, and you could tell. I think that the overall worst battle had to be the one between Ultra Super Saiyan Trunks vs Perfect Cell. It lasted a whole 3 episodes, through nonstop talking, and yet nothing happened. At least between Frieza and Vegeta, you felt like things were getting done. Here? No, you just listen to Trunks explain his past, watch his legs beef up randomly, and charge Cell but never hit him. Those are the episodes, to me, that define the public's perception of DBZ— spiky haired, half naked, homoerotic buff men screaming for about half an episode, talking for the rest of the episode, and then the fighting starts. The Frieza "10 EPISODE FIGHT!!!" only became famous because of the 5 minutes thing. That, and constantly cutting back to Earth, often for no reason, right when the action really started heating up. I also didn't much like the battle between Vegeta and Semi-Perfect Cell and Goku and Ginyu. I dunno, in the anime the animation just felt too choppy and lazily done those times. The latter gets a free pass for the whole "180,000!" moment and Ginyu swapping bodies out of the blue, but the former didn't feel that special to me beyond finding the next level of super saiyan (sorta). I think the further back you go in DBZ, the more epic the battles feel because they move so quickly without using recycled animation since they pick up directly from the spirit of Dragon Ball. They feel genuinely brutal and desperate, rather than the later battles which use said recycled loops of punch punch kick dodge kick punch repeat and having Piccolo state that "he's never felt a power like this!" every 10 seconds. And then comes DBGT, but whatever. TL;DR: Every battle after Frieza. Edited by Yuli Ban, Jun 26 2014, 12:57 AM.
