I've always considered scenarios like the one in the OP as a possibility.
Freeza in that context would've been significantly weakened too from taking the Genki Dama head on like he did. And his technically wasn't a transformation, at least not to the level that Goku's was, so he probably wouldn't have been healed from "transforming".

So that probably would've reduced both their powers in their "max" states.

The problem with "max" power is that "max" is what you're capable of at that point in time, not what you're capable of over-all.
If you've been injured, your actual max isn't going to be your true max.

Even if Goku didn't act fatigued, that doesn't mean that he wasn't. He was still significantly stronger than Freeza, therefore fighting Freeza probably wouldn't have been much of an issue.

I don't remember that being implied. I remember it being implied that because Goku was so angry and most likely had adrenaline going through his body alongside his stupidity he just didn't feel it.
Adrenaline only takes you so far besides goku went back to his base and showed no signs of hurting so his wounds were healed
When did he go back to base after transforming? I remember him racing to a spaceship and that's all we saw.

When he gave Freeza the energy is within short vicinity of him going back to base. Anime-wise at least.

滅Are you frightened?

Well, Goku was angry Frieza decided to keep attacking instead of being man enough and accepting defeat. So I can see that as the "weaker" trigger for his second time.

Just because he transfers ki doesn't mean that it's an actual ki blast.

Gohan and Krillin both transferred theirs to Piccolo earlier in the fight, I assume Goku's transfer to Freeza worked in the same way. If it's just raw energy, it packs no punch to it.

That has nothing to do with why I made that post.

I see.
I highlighted the wrong reason why you posted... I think.

However, even if it wasn't in direct response to you, I stand by what I said as a generalized statement for the thread.
