Internet Explorer Favourite Manga Dragon Ball Z	Before I continue I want to get something out of the way... I know this looks like I'm hating on AT, I'm not I respect the hell out of him and his work. At the end of the Boo arc he did something very smart and something I will always respect him for... he walked away, the Boo arc became a complete mess and TOEI made a complete cluster f*** out of the Anime. The man walked away before things got way out of hand and even more out of control. When I heard about BOG, I was so happy and wanted to see it so bad. I was happy that AT came back for the Movie, he gave himself time to get over and past the mess that DBZ was left in and came back with a fresher look on everything... as a fellow writer I completely respect that. Then I heard who was directing it, and that certain points in the Movie became a contradiction to his previous work and was hoping it was all a rumor and someone made it up just to mess with the fans... now we know they're not rumors. As much as I want the Movie to be canon to the Manga, I can't due the credibility of the Director and how AT contradicts himself in the Movie it's self. One could explain around the contradictions and get around them, but I don't think it changes things. This isn't an attack on AT or his work, it's just questioning the contradictions and the credibility the Movies continuity with the Director being the same company who always contradicts it's self and it's logic fails every time you turn around.

Even if it was completely declared by Toriyama, "This movie is a canon addition to my manga and if I need to make things any clearer I will hire a lawyer to draw up a contract for you naysayers!", it would still be put in the movie section.

I am simply putting in it GT/Movies because it is a movie. As for my thoughts on the topic, I don't know how much he worked on it and the word 'canon' hasn't been used, but they haven't called it a side-story.

AT could have written every single detail about the movie, but if the director TOEI does NOT agree with it, then it doesn't make it in the final product. The director has the final word on everything... even the writing. You can't tell me that TOEI agreed to EVERYTHING AT wrote, and didn't want changes of their own. Besides even in an Anime there isn't just one draft to a script. AT may have rewrote the original script, but you can't tell me every draft after that was all him.
