World Cup Drawing

Leve Feyenoord 1!

There was never made a thread about this, but what did you guys think of how the drawing went?
Normally the drawing was always okay. Make 4 pots sorted on the rank on the FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking. And out of that drawing always came good groups.

Now they invented a whole new system with a pot 1 as usual and then a pot for UEFA (Europe), A Pot for AFC (Asia) and CONCACAF (North America) and lastly a for for CAF and CONMEBOL (Africa and South America). So the pots were based on continents and not of quality, except for the first pot which was based on quality... And if that's not complicated enough they also had this random pot X where 1 European team would go with the CONMEBOL and CAF...

It was really confusing and the groups we're now stuck with honestly don't seem that fair to me...

We have groups where the Netherlands and Spain are together, Italy, Uruguay and England are together, Portugal and Germany are together, and meanwhile France is facing Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras... Argentina is facing Nigeria, Iran and Bosnia... And we have entire groups without top class teams for example Belgium, Russia, Algeria and Korea or Colombia, Ivory Coast, Greece and Japan.

What are your thoughts?

EDIT: Crap... I thought I posted this in Soccer. Can a mod move this?

That's not a new system, they've used the geographical system for the last three ports for the last few tournaments. I just checked Wikipedia to be sure and they've been doing it since at least 1994, so the draw procedure isn't any different.

The only reason the groups seem unbalanced is because of who the seeded teams were. Teams like Belgium, Switzerland and Colombia ended up being seeded for the tournament, which meant that there were more stronger teams in the other pots, like the Netherlands, England and Portugal.
