So, we remember the seen in BOG where Beers slaps Bulma across the face and Vegeta flips his lid and gains an absurd amount of power via a rage boost. Now one will say, "I don't see the problem here" but if we're to assume that rage boosts come as a result of hidden power then we must then look back to the Boo arc for Vegeta's Majin takeover and the beyond his hidden power's limits boost he was given by Babidi. Chapter: 456 (DBZ 262), P4.3 Context: as Babidi takes control of Vegeta Babidi: "While I'm at it, I'll draw out his hidden power to beyond [his? its?] limits!" Now of course if Vegeta can have his hidden power drawn beyond his or its limits yet a few years later acquire a rage boost that boosts him much further than his current state, now Vegeta isn't the only one that has had such a statement made about a power up. Now we look to Gohan. Chapter: 479 (DBZ 285), P10.1-5 Context: Elder Kaioshin explains his 'ability' Elder Kaioshin: "With my psychic powers, I can take the hidden power which anyone has, no matter how amazing a master they may be, and draw it wa~~ay, wa~~ay out above their limits. Ehehehehe...Have you ever heard of an ability like that?" Kaioshin and Kibito: "Oooh!" Goku: "Wh-what?...Ain't that the kind of ability you hear about fairly often?" Elder Kaioshin: "Wh-what are you talking about...?! Above their limits! Above! There de~~efinitely isn't anyone else that incredible! [ ] Hey, you over there, you were the one who pulled the sword out, right? Come over here a little. If someone could pull that sword out and swing it around, then once I get through with them they'll de~~efinitely be able to become the best in the universe." Now one may say then "The methods aren't the same, Gohan can't even transform". Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Gohan transform? Even if that were a mistake the basic principle of the hidden power unlock is the same. Both bring your hidden power beyond its limits, Vegeta had a less beyond and Gohan had a lot more beyond. I think it is fair to say that Gohan too can access this resetting dormant power just like Vegeta can. Of course this can only apply to canon if you consider BOG as canon but you get the point. Thoughts? |

A: it wasn't that absurd a boost, Vegeta had already surpassed Ultimate Gohan and Gotenks rage boost or no. It only helped him surpass Goku and if the incredible power that Gohan and Gotenks possessed (who were more powerful then SSJ3 Goku himself not too long go) didn't automatically mean they were far above Vegeta, I don't see this still needs to be true of SSJ3. He got a big boost, but let's not blow it out of proportion. B: Yes, Gohan transforms but not for the sake of fighting. |

It's like I've said before, Gohan transforming during the SSJ God part really just seems to be an error on the animation part. Originally Gohan did turn into an SSJ against Beers until was corrected in the final release...this just seems to be a case of the animators not correcting that part like they did the other. Vegeta getting any sort of boost from rage is just a huge contradiction. Having his dragon balls stolen or watching his son get killed (All of which would have peeved the prince off much more than Beers lightly tapping Bulma) never implied or suggested that Vegeta gets rage boosts. Now to be truthful, it may be that the whole Vegeta moment was less AT's idea and more on one of the writers. IIRC, one of the writers liked Vegeta and wanted to have a moment where he shined. Of course considering how much writing power AT, he should've known about this and still let it happen. But honestly at this point, AT I think is just doing whatever the heck he wants now a days regardless of how much it fits into canon. |

I completely agree with TConnor. People get their hidden power brought or potential brought out multiple times throughout the series. I think saying the hidden power and potential gets reset is pretty accurate |

I think its more along the lines that they get "parts of their" hidden energy unlocked. And not the entire thing all at once. |

Or it's all based on current limits. Goku and Vegeta are both full-blooded Saiyans, and we know Saiyans get stronger after every battle. The stronger the opponent, the more their bodies adapt so there is always room for growth. After being challenged by Buu, it is clear their bodies needed to adapt. |
