Is such a line spoken in the manga?

And only does so after remembering Gohan was the one to free him.

Safari Favourite Manga Dragon Ball	I don't remember any line like that. But even if he is weaker wouldn't it be beneficial to do the ritual anyways? He would probably gain some power but even if he didn't gain any wouldn't it basically give him access to SSJ3 without the need to transform? Then he wouldn't have any stamina issues and could fight at full power for longer. The only issue I see with this is time. If Goku's ritual took as long as Gohan's did then he probably would've been too late to fight Buu.

He simply offers Gohan this service, probably because he thought Goku was an ahole for hitting him in the face with a small ki blast. He really didn't think too highly of Goku after that.
