it's the same (or similar) technique. he sticks his hands out, and the person he's facing is paralyzed. it also has a limitation on how much more powerful they can be and still work. there's also nothing to suggest that godly techniques are different than normal techniques. Chapter: 216 (DBZ 22), P12.2, P13.2-6 Context: after Kuririn’s ki blast doesn’t faze Nappa or Vegeta Kuririn: “I…I did that at full-power!!! So this is what Saiyans are!!” Tenshinhan: “The ground!!! The ground’s shaking!!!” Chaozu: “Ten!!! My powers don’t work!!!” Piccolo: “I never thought it would be so much!!!” Chapter: 450 (DBZ 256), P2.5, P3.5 Context: after Vegeta and Goku talk about Dabra not being that great Kaioshin: “Un-unbelievable. Is this ‘Super Saiyan’ thing really this great?...Come to think of it, it was quite hard to stop Son Gohan from moving after he became a Super Saiyan…And even that might not have been his full power…”
1. there is no evidence that the method you gain your divinity actually matters. divinity is divinity. 2. nowhere is it stated that kaioshin was born a god. even the SEG's segment on shinjin doesn't state he was born as kaioshin, merely that only those shinjin born to golden fruit become kaioshin. we do know that the last kaioshin can still be alive when the new one is born, since old kaioshin was still alive when kaioshin was born, and they are both east kaioshin. so merely being born doesn't make him the east kaioshin, he has to somehow gain the title of kaioshin after the old one retires. meaning that kaioshin got his divinity the same way that kami did, by inheriting from his predecessor. 3. the office of kaioshin is fundamentally the same as the office of a planet's god, just on a bigger scale. |

list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god | |

It's still a completely baseless assumption. Even if we assume (key word) that Kaioshin's psychic powers are the exact same ones Chaozu uses, why would Kaioshin's have the same limit? Maybe he trained his to be better. We don't know the multiplication limit on Kaioshin's psychic powers, and using Chaozu, who is a completely different race, may have got his powers through training while Kaioshins may have got his naturally, and may not even be the same technique overall just seems like a bit of a weak argument. It'd be like if no attacks were ever named in the series and we just assumed Final Flash was the same as the Ki blast Trunks uses in the Budokai because they take similar stances and they're both Ki attacks. Edit: Kami was never really a God imo, at least not literally. Kaioshins race are actually God's, Kami is just a Namekian who calls himself God. |

That doesn't work, because... Chapter: 439 (DBZ 245), P12.1 Context: after Piccolo and Kaioshin's match Kaioshin: “…I see. He used to be this planet’s god…Perhaps he’s somehow started to realize who I am…” Kaioshin himself says Piccolo used to be a god (referring to Kami), so it can't be just a title. He also had a working relationship with Enma Daio, which implies his role actually is significant. |

Unless there was some kind of process involved that changes his physical being when Kami became "God" then he really can't be any more than a regular Namekian. Suddenly deciding you're going to live at the top of the lookout forever is hardly going to change you from a normal Namekian to a God otherwise Piccolo in the Buu saga and Popo would also be Gods. |

I actually think there's different levels of gods, and this is really going into another terroritory entirely. Kaioshin's being the supreme overlords in the Universe with subordinates. Region Kais (Kaio-sama etc) can be considered gods in their own right. And then under them we have planet gods, also known as guardians. Another theory could be that of the anime, in which Kami was imprisoned by Garlic Jr and that whole thing. Personally, I don't believe in that myself, but it's a theory. Kami does mention to Goku that he had to split up to be a candidate to become guardian of Earth. Maybe guardian and god just means the same thing in this case. |

Are you arguing vs. a statement clearly declaring him a god? Your argument is falling apart. Kami could do things that Piccolo could not, including but not limited to his godly-vision. Edited by sekzee, May 23 2014, 04:03 PM.

I'm saying unless there's a process involved when the previous God transferred some kind of powers (which is somewhat possible since Kami could create moons) then he's not a physical God, just by title. |

All gods appear to be that way in the DB universe thus far. |

Kami also used his God powers to switch bodies in the Budokai, so I think he was given powers. |
