I'm tempted to make the weekly DD discussion about music. I miss music. It has become so much more soul less than what it actually was. I mean look at the s*** from back then til now.

Past:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ9rUzIMcZQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2AC41dglnM

As compared to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfVsfOSbJY0

I know this is -entirely- a subjective topic, They are also probably the worst 2 songs I could pick for future, But music has gone the way of the s***ter. It's not about soul and emotion anymore as it is about money and what sells. And how the f*** that sells I'll never know.

Lyrics are different. Music is different. I dunno - I just miss music.

There's still music out there that's still about soul and emotion. You just have to surround yourself with it.

yes, because comparing a classic like bohemian rhapsody to one of the worst songs ever made is really a good way to make you case. and thunderstruck really isn't much better than baby. half the song is just "uh uh uh uh". and a chorus consisting of "thunderstruck" repeated over and over again is certainly no better than a chorus consisting of "baby" over and over again. next time, try picking representative samples of music from both time periods. something that's mainstream, and actually showcases the sound of the time, something that none of the songs you picked do.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

Yeah you can't compare classics with something everyone hates. Bad suns and rebelution are good new stuff

I'm constantly listening to cool stuff these days, so I don't think it's getting worse. It's just that there's a larger audience of people who only listen to music for how catchy it is or whatever other reason. And that's the stuff that's everywhere.

There's still plenty of good bands out there, you just have to dig a little deeper.

Yeah, it depends on where you look and there actually is a few gems in plain sight. Bruno Mars for instance, he is an amazing artist.

There is a lot of trash from back in the day too. I would say the chart music is especially bad nowadays though.

That is a fair call.

However enlighten me; As a good way to "make my case", what would you recommend? Please pick representative samples of music from both time periods, something that's mainstream and actually showcases the -sound of time-. Something that none of the song that I picked do.

No pressure.

Also "making my case" to a subjective topic mate.
