For once I agree with Alex. I've heard the term "Nostalgia Cow" and I believe it sums Z up fine.

Dragon Ball Z was the best series ever... Until I watched Fullmetal Alchemist.

It was the funniest series... Before I got into Gintama.

Now, I'm looking into series like Death Note, Toriko etc, and I have come to the conclusion that Z can't compare to A LOT of series.

I still like the series, but it's far from great. I think Courage the Cowardly Dog is better both plot wise and comedy wise, and that ain't even Anime.
Wow people still confuse on what's anime and what's not lmao. Also what about people who don't have nostalgia for Z ? I've seen and read over 200 anime or manga. I say Z is pretty up there lol. I respect opinions though. Also Gintama as the funniest. Maybe 3rd. Not a fan ir FMA one of worst I've seen.

Beside Dbz got the best Character in history of fiction

I mean no offense by this, but why do people still like Naruto? It continues to prolong itself to the point where the series has become uninteresting IMO. I also have a really hard time getting invested in anyone's character save Naruto, Gaara, Rock Lee and Might Guy. Everyone else is boring and in Sasuke's case, an emotionless prick.
Kishimoto's done a great job in a lot of different aspects that I mentioned before; world-building, character development and atmosphere, as well as a decent plot. Part 1 was quite effective in making a lot of viewers invest in certain characters and carried them throughout Part 2. Sure, it's recently become a little less popular, but the fact still remains that everything was set out really well. Sasuke's hardly an 'emotionless prick', and your investment in the series is dependent on whether it 'clicks' with you or not.
Kishimoto's world building is actually mediocre considering how different the world is compared to ours, and especially compared to the likes of series like One Piece and Toriko.

The character development is stale, too... There aren't really any characters I like from it. They've either been crippled from Kishi's awful story writing, or cast into the background.

The plot centers around a dead 13 year old girl who a deranged pedophile, in the form of a major antagonist, obsesses over.

Honestly, although it was a common notion to consider Naruto superior to Bleach, I actually find the two comparable now considering how horrid the current arc of Naruto is... I'm serious. They're both disgraces to Shonen Jump and even Dragon Ball is plenty superior to them.

I think people get too caught up in criticizing things that Dragonball was never supposed to be as opposed to what it aims for and thrives at.

The fighting is still top notch, even if you don't adjust for how old it is, and if you do, it's untouchable. The artwork and character design is great. As far as depth goes, it's underrated. Goku is not your typical hero. He doesn't even necessarily fight to save the world, in fact, he risks putting the world, hell, even the universe, in danger, multiple times, just for the thrill of the fight and the challenge. Piccolo is total badass, borderline antihereo, and Vegeta is practically a villain that fights with the heroes for no noble cause. Krillen is a goofy, loveable guy, and Tenshinhan is the brave warrior who fearlessly fights and trains despite being totally outmatched. That's not a normal, cookie cutter sort of protagonist crew.

The biggest knock is character development, and I don't even think it's that bad. Piccolo, Vegeta, Gohan, and Goku all go through significant development in the series, and Tenshinhan as well in Dragonball. Another knock is plot, but I feel it to be more simple than bad, and what do you honestly expect from a fighting series? It's not a big deal.

Too many animes try and fail to be deep, not because it's impossible to pull off, but because they're not good at pulling it off. I enjoy both deep games/manga/animes and simple ones done well equally, but some of the toughest things to watch or read are "deep" ones that are done poorly.

It's the only series I read/watch over and over again without getting bored, and I'm into both simple and complicated plots, so it's done something right by my book.

One Piece anyone? Very comparable in my eyes. Entertaining at a basic level, and little more. Replayable as hell though.

I can actually understand someone not getting into One Piece because of the art (which I thought was your case), but assuming you have not made it past East Blue, this is a very, very common opinion to be held... It's a really weak start, especially compared to the later sagas, which will blow you away.

I'm hesitant to start One Piece because of the mammoth size of the franchise.

That usually scares people off...

Naruto and Bleach aren't far off in length, but they'll end soon and they're much, much worse than One Piece (this is an understatement).

I could honestly see One Piece going 10 more years before it ends.

Once you get current or far enough into it, you'll feel SO accomplished, believe me.

It took me 6 hours to see how crappy One Piece is. I tried again but I read it this time. Waste of time. Boring plot and everything screams boring.

Oh, the East Blue Saga is quite a***, truly... You would never expect it to become as f***ing amazing as it will really get.

It is WORTH the sit through during East Blue, believe me.

Dude I'm way past the first arc. I still occasionally read it. To see if it got better. Im only one arc behind. Still think it sucks. Its not my cup of tea. I do like Naruto and many other anime or manga. My hyung used to give me bootleg Anime and manga(like low quality not rip off versions) . So I've seen about 200 - 450 anime and read about 220(series not chapters or issues) to 567 comic or manga

Oh...

Sorry then, I become somewhat of a zealot when it comes to One Piece, LOL. I really push people to read it.
