It's the other way around for me. I've tried watching other animes, they're all terrible for me compared to DBZ. Yes, it's probably the nostalgia that's keeping me such a big fan of this show(and there is nothing wrong with that as some silly people seem to think), I'm not into animes/mangas in general. Also, even though I'm getting older I would never care about other people's opinions/"disapproval" of something I'm watching. I will enjoy DBZ untill I'm unable to mentally. |

I will always love DBZ, but I agree. Once I started watching a little more anime I found them to be far more entertaining and that enlightened me to just how lacking DBZ really is. |

I'm at that stage where I'm unable to ^^ After watching the show 14 times, I can't bring myself to watch it. I can watch bits and pieces, but that's about it. Edited by SSJ, May 15 2014, 08:46 PM.

lol trust me, no matter how many times u watch something it will eventually get tiring i guarantee it, each manga/anime might have a different limit but its there i had a fave show a few years ago, i loved it i could re watch it a lot, thinking i could never get sick of it, but i did, the threshold was just really high, till the point that i was saying the lines of the actors before they would and know what was coming each scene before it did, almost missing nothing |

What makes DBZ special is the fact that it is fun. Honestly, the fact is, you shouldn't take DBZ too seriously. It was written by an average man who wrote by the seat of his pants. Some things are just not meant to be too dark or full of depth. Sonic 06 is what happens when you take a lighthearted series too seriously. I also think that DBZ is special because Toriyama didn't reveal everything. Mysteries prolong discussion, and since there are so many things that are left ambiguous, DBZ is fun to discuss, and shall remain to be discussed.

I watch the whole thing about twice a year. From DB to DBZ to GT and all the movies. I also take breaks. Doing it this way makes me enjoy every time I watch it and I won't get bored of it, I also don't watch my favorite scenes over and over on youtube so that every time I see a scene it feels fresh. I've been doing this since late 2012(after about a decade hiatus from DBZ) so I don't know when or if I will reach the point where I won't be able to enjoy it as much anymore. |

Who is 'everybody'? The kids at school? Anyway, sometimes there is more beauty in simplicity. |

Yeah I'd say I was pretty similar a couple of years ago. I'm thinking I'll probably rematch it in a year or so once I've ended my hiatus. |

Better to have an entertaining "basic" anime VS a jumbled up piece of garbage anime that takes itself too seriously. That's the vibe i'm getting from a lot of anime's nowadays. |

I still love the anime, and I think it's a fantastic watch. If I hadn't seen it so many times I'd still feel the same way. Some of the moments in that show give me chills to this day, which not a lot of shows can do. I agree about it being basic not being a horrible thing. It would have been nice to get a little more out of characters like Piccolo, but eh. |
