Krillin had a good fight with Goku in the 22nd Budokai, and this Goku was much stronger than he was when he destroyed Tao. Considering Goku was already strong enough to trounce Tao in the RRA ending, adding the extra 3 years (I think 3) of training on top of that makes him loads stronger. Krillin just being able to keep up places him above Tao.
