It was always strange to me how he can only in SSJ bounced back the spirit bomb, but he was a SSJ2 after all.

But his hair looks exactly like SSJ2, and you see the blue electricity. So for me, he was a SSJ2. Also look to his aura, its looks exactly like that of a SSJ2, more wild then a SSJ aura. For all we know, they could've made him SSj2 for their own entertainment, although I doubt it. They don't really seem to know or care about the difference between the two forms anyway.

Safari Favourite Manga Dragon Ball	When he first transformed to bounce it back his hair looked SSJ2 but when he was shown again later in the Kai's ball he looked SSJ and the sparks were moving with the Spirit Bomb. And he's a SSJ in the manga as well.

Posts: 1,078 Group: Member Member #8,530 Joined: November 6, 2012	I think it's from the spirit bomb as well, and Goku wouldn't need to go SSJ2 just to push the ball towards Buu, that thing doesn't need to be pushed hard by the creator since it's already powerful on its own so Goku at a full powered SSJ was more than enough.

Chrome Favourite Manga DBZ (only manga I've ever read)	I don't think so. The lightning was mainly used only when he pushed the spirit bomb back. And look at his hair the instant he transforms. He's a SSJ. You can tell by the bangs. And there are other shots where he clearly looks SSJ as in this video. I agree with what the other guy said he appears SSJ2 because of the wind blowing his hair back when he pushes it and the lightning was part of the spirit bomb.
