Even though Trunks did mention that the ones in the primary timeline were stronger, there's really no way he could've known what the limits of the ones in his time were because they were so much stronger than everyone else.

Daizenshuu 7 Artificial Human No. 17 An artificial human who is a modified human boy. Equipped with an eternal energy engine, he never tires out. His power is on par with Piccolo after Piccolo merged with God, but like No. 18, the original purpose for which he was created was as food to allow Cell to reach his perfect form. Also, the No. 17 and No. 18 in the future where the adult Trunks came from are somewhat inferior in power, but are cruel and inhumane.

They clearly didn't hold back on Future Gohan when they went for the kill against him. The Anime is the only version that shows the duo Suppressed. Future #17 hints at this when he says "We were using less than 50% of our power against you" so I don't know why he would hold back again after saying that. Edited by Yusuke, May 8 2014, 04:58 PM.

Sorry I'm a bit rusty , what I wanted to say is, that Assassin was saying The Future Androids might hold back there power against SSJ Trunks, cause they thought they did not need to use FP. The fight between Future Gohan and the Future Androids never happened in the Manga. Gohan encounters them normally in the manga like how he did in the Anime where Future #17 tells him he wasn't using 50% of his power the last time he fought him. After that, the fight between the two isn't shown and we can assume Future Gohan got killed on the spot seeing the gap between him and the Future Androids. For Future #17 to suppress himself once more would be redundant seeing as Gohan got stronger from their previous fight.
