| Would it have been more fitting if Vegeta became SSJ2 after Cell attacked Trunks? | |

Would it? To me that was the perfect time for Vegeta to become SSJ2, he had seen his son die (or they thought) and everything was set out for Vegeta to go to the next level. Instead he attacks Cell and does nothing. And would the saga have been better if it was Vegeta, and not Son Gohan, that killed Cell? |

No it wouldn't because in the end, nothing would've changed. Cell would've told Vegeta to shut his face, smacked him to the ground and then shot him with a very large gun just to stick it in the wound that he's so weak that not only can he not defeat him after attaining SSJ2 but he can go as far as to use this simple human weapons to kill him. Not only does Vegeta get beat just as easily as before...but his pride is in shatters and he falls, weeping in absolute misery and disrespect. Piccolo can provide the "distraction" shot if needed. I don't know why people always feel like this is a good idea. Like suddenly Vegeta's going to pop up on Gohan's level or something or even higher and defeat Cell. Not exactly considering that Super Saiyan 2 didn't actually exist at that time. I could be wrong, but Gohan's transformation was a result of his hidden ki being released, not really the result of a new planned Super Saiyan transformation.

It would have just made things even more butthurt since by all logic, Cell would still kick his a*** into the ground. Personally, I wish Piccolo had landed the distracting shot on Cell, just because of his connection with Gohan |

Pretty much what the others said. Vegeta is too weak so going ssj2 isn't going to make enough of a difference. Yeah I think it would've been cool if piccolo did the distraction shot because of the connection with him and gohan but then vegeta would've never made up for his mistake of letting cell get so powerful and getting gohan's arm broken |

Nope, it would not be that great, considering he would still get his butt kicked by Cell, heck even SSJ2 Vegeta Buu Saga is below SPC in my opinion(Pre Majin). If this happened then Cell would beat him up fairly easily, and the whole thing will be in vain. On the other hand we got a nice and great story about Vegeta, when he firts show up his SSJ2 form against his arch-rival in the ultimate clash between them, I prefer that .

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

No, honestly, it's better the way it is. We just had someone transform into SSJ2 literally 5 minutes ago. Not to mention, at that time, it wasn't known as SSJ2 but as Gohan's unleashed anger. Ergo, it was seen as something unique only to Gohan at that point. Furthermore, I think it is a great moment for Vegeta's characterization. He attacked an enemy he knew was far more powerful than him but this time it wasn't pride-centric. He didn't care if Cell would retaliate. At that moment, you knew that Vegeta was risking his well-being for no ulterior motive for someone else for probably the 1st time in his life |

I feel he should have been able to do more. Although, I find it a bit ridiculous for people to think that if Vegeta had transformed, he would still be fodder to Cell. That is not AT's style. |

It is, actually. Remember Trunks' transformation? That was a failure. Remember Vegeta's Zenkai? That did jack s*** |

Trunks' transformation was flawed. If Vegeta transformed like Gohan, he wouldn't automatically be weaker than Cell. The Zenkai? That wasn't even a transformation.

@piccolo doing distraction shot It would be cool if piccolo did that. But I think its good that vegeta did it.Because this scene reminds me of the ending scene of A New Hope.I see this scene as Gohan:Luke Goku:Obi wan kenobi Vegeta:Han solo Vegeta doing the distraction shot is like han solo taking out vaders wingman.Damn this scene is so similar to the finale scene of new hope

I don't think it matters how weak Vegeta was, if Akira Toriyama wanted him to be stronger he would have been stronger so I don't think that's a problem. DragonBall is not a maths equation. Also he could have gotten a rage-boost, too like he did at Battle-of-Gods to make him stronger than he normally would be. |

I feel like the Z-fighters distracting Cell as a group should've been canon as well. Every had their connection to Gohan or Goku, and wouldn't sit around and do nothing while his son is in trouble. It's off character. |

TBH, the anime's version of the beam struggle was much better. Piccolo is the first to jump in, probably due to Gohan All the Z-Fighters try their hardest You get the sense that Gohan is actually able to give Cell trouble, unlike in the Manga where he's overwhelmed very quickly. You've got Cell making some badass lines |

Cell was hamming the **** out of that scene. Gohan had no chance against that verbal beatdown. |
