Android 19>much weaker people who can withstand planet busting attacks. He was extremely durable. So how is it that vegeta could pull his arms off? I know 19 doesn't weigh that much but it should still take a lot of strength to rip something/someone that durable apart shouldn't it? |

He's a machine. Even if he's ever so strong, his machine-parts can't be improved upon by his own power. |

Emmeth pretty much nailed it. Androids/Cyborgs (since the don't have ki) are not capable of improving their own bodies through ki like organic people can. Absorbing ki may give them more raw energy, but it doesn't improve their physical power like it would for an organic being. They just have more energy to throw around. So the power of their blasts increase and they can toss out more of them, but it has no effect on the durability of their bodies. |

Sorry I don't understand what you guys are saying. The androids were all clearly very durable compared to past enemies |

Yeah, everyone else is right. It does explain why 18 had trouble carrying 16 too. Also, defending against ki and punches is different. Some person calculated that SSJ3 Goku's punch can break apart King Kai's planet, yet SSJ2 Gohan tore apart the Cell Jrs, who should be able to survive planet busting ki attacks |

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

It's because everything is relative in DBZ; all that matters is who has the higher power level. More often than not, higher power level = more strength and speed If you have the higher power, you can do whatever you want to anyone else in DBZ; that's how they roll |

It is true that their durability is higher, but the fact is that other (organic) characters can use their ki to make their bodies more durable, while the Androids/Cyborgs can't. Ki heightens power and abilities, durability, etc, but since cybernetic characters don't have ki and are incapable of producing or utilizing it, their abilities are set in stone. Even if they themselves are built stronger than an organic being, organic beings can make themselves stronger by using their ki to do so. For example, Goku himself is not that strong physically, but by utilizing his ki at any given moment, he can make himself much stronger and/or more durable than he is ever able to be without utilizing his ki. Ki isn't only used for shooting blasts or creating cool aura effects, it's used to enhance the person's body as well by making them more durable. |

It's not ki. It's an artificially produced force that mimics ki. It's the same thing with 19 and 20's "ki" abilities. They absorb raw ki, but then convert it into their own artificial force. It's the only explanation of having ki without actually having ki. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, May 2 2014, 06:14 PM.

^And that contributes to their durability, so it is not true that they can't use their power to protect themselves better. |

Doesn't matter because it still doesn't increase his durability like it would for an organic fighter. Not to mention that I'm fairly certain that 17's "Ki" shield is non-canon. Please correct me if I'm wrong. However while we're on the subject, actually using your ki to increase your durability, as opposed to manifesting it as a separate force outside your body aren't the same thing. Ki in a ki shield is a separate force than your body, but it's produced by your body. Increasing your durability via ki is done by concentrating ki into areas of your body. 17's "ki" isn't actually ki, and doesn't have the same properties on non organic material that it does on organic material. For example, you can't focus ki into the ground to make the ground stronger because that's not an organic object. It's the same with mechanical parts. |

Just stop arguing with semantics please. KI, non-KI energy etc etc. The specifics aren't what I care about, the point is that the androids have the ability to use a force that will make them more durable in a fight so you were simply wrong. 17 showed it when he used his shield, it makes perfect sense anyway otherwise they'd be destroyed easily. |

Instead of getting mad at me, you need to prove that androids/cyborgs are able to use ki to increase their durability. That argument falls on you since you're the one arguing that. Manifesting a force stronger than yourself is not the same thing as increasing your durability with ki, because that ki, once manifested, is no longer a part of your body. For example, once Goku manifests a Kamehameha, that's not part of his body. His durability doesn't increase because that Kamehameha is manifested. Just because you can't see the ki doesn't mean that it isn't being used. For example, Goku's ki increased against Raditz when he took his weights off. You couldn't see physically it, but never the less, we knew that his ki had increased because Raditz tells us that it had. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, May 2 2014, 07:55 PM.

Is power level the same as ki? We know that people like Burter and Ginyu have unusually high and low(respectively) speeds, maybe it's the same for strength? Before you ask, with Ginyu, while he was coasting around in Goku's meager 23,000 body, he said "Haha, this body is even faster". Travel speed and power level clearly do not align linearly, not at all |
