Do you think that movie makers will ever release a movie, most likely based on a book that lasts something silly like 6 hours? Instead of doing a part I, part II and part III years apart.(in saying that I'm guessing no because money) It would be cool if each LOTR movie for example had more of what was in each book since a lot of important detail is missed. As a cinema experience I'm not sure people would go for it of course, perhaps if it was split in to 3 hours one day then you come back tomorrow for the other half, then the DVD has the full 6 hours. With absurdly popular/good book adaptions I think it would be cool, when it's so long that 2 and a half hours just doesn't cut it. |

They've done it as part of marathons with Star wars and Lord of the Rings. I think so long as they had an interval at the three hour mark then it would be doable. That being said, I'm not sure how many people have the time to sit in a cinema for six hours. So for that reason I don't see it being profitable in anyway. I think this is one of the few ways you could make a half decent Dune film. It's a shame that no one would watch it. |

A TV-show is better for books. George RR Martin was approached by movie companies to make a movie out of A Song of Ice and Fire, but he refused, saying that the books was too detailed for one or even three movies. He said he wanted it to be a TV-show, and that's what it became. |

I guess a TV show works but if it's just the one book the kind of money put behind a movie is probably better for everything, better quality sets possible CGI and A-list actors since most wouldn't really have the time for a 10 episode series. I'd much rather a movie played in halves than ridiculously greedily marketed as separate part I and part II movies. Looking at you Twilight |

I doubt I, or most other people, could sit in a movie theater for more than 3 hours, mainly because of needing to go to the bathroom, hunger and thirst (It's gonna be pretty hard to make popcorn, candy, or some beverage last for 6 hours), and eventually, boredom. Contrary to most people's opinions, I'm not really against movies based on books, TV shows etc. being split into two parts. though I see why others don't like it. |
