Are you afraid of death? Are you okay with your time at whatever time in your life it happens? Do you think about it a lot, or do you prevent yourself from doing so? And anything else you have about Death. Edited by Professor Gohan, Apr 24 2014, 10:52 PM.

Freaks me out. Because I don't believe in an afterlife, so that means that for me - well this is it. Not a person who lives in a bubble to take extra preventative measures against it. Not something I really want to think about often either - more of a live in the moment kind of bloke. |

Hate the idea of it. I don't want a time limit to see and do all I can. I want to see aliens, warp drive, planets colonised, a better form of government than democracy, robots and genetically enhanced people. Something tells me I was born 50 years to early and it sucks. By the time I've done all I need to do to become president of Earth my life will be more than half over. |

On the subject of death, and the fear of death, I have held a simple belief: He who fears death fears to live his life. If one is terrified of death, they will do nothing that warrants any risk of any sort. They will pass up possible spouses, sports plays, job possibilities, all because it is safer to do so. Death is inevitable. It is a constant. Why fear what is bound to happen? It is better to accept it, and to move on with no fear of it. I have no intention on living forever. But I would prefer to live for a decently long time. As a Manowar song (Heart Of Steel) goes; Stand and fight! Live by your heart! Always one more try! I'm not afraid to die! Stand and fight! Say what you feel! Born with a heart of steel! |

I prefer not to think about it, it creeps in the back of my mind. Going to draw a picture here, imagine I'm busting my chops building a house, but Death is standing right next to me holding a giant hourglass that is slowly but surely pouring the sand to the bottom. Meanwhile I know full well he's standing right next to me and I can see the hourglass. But I know it's always going to be there to remind me of my mortality and that I need to accomplish as much as I can, and I use that fact to build the building even quicker than I ever could before. |

Nah, it makes me more anxious to get stuff done sooner. I don't want to wait until I'm in my 30s before I have children and be an old dad. and there comes a point where you get too old to enjoy cool stuff like you would if you were younger. Do as much as you can in your teens, 20s and 30s. Then you shouldn't need to feel concerned that you wasted any years. |

Can still be fearful of death and accept that it will happen. I know I'm not going to live forever but I don't want to die tomorrow/next week/ next year. Also - People who are scared of dying can still take huge risks - I tend to think of the other extreme that people will take bigger risks because like Pelador said - they are anxious to get more stuff done sooner rather than thinking about possible consequences. Both extremes work though I think yours is more terrified of failure rather than death? |

I don't like the idea of it, but I wouldn't say I fear it. After all, by the time death comes, it won't bother me, since I won't exist. It's literally the one fear that you have absolutely no chance of ever actually experiencing. Dying on the other hand terrifies me. There are so many terrifying ways to die, whether it be painful like burning, crushed, stabbed, animal attack, or just a really long process where you know you're going to die, like falling from an extremely high place (I'm not sure if you'd be able to experience the pain, even if for a split second), or being buried alive (which is an especially big fear of mine). So death itself doesn't bother me too much, just because I know that when it comes I won't even know it happened, it's the actual act of dying that scares me. I don't want a death that either involves pain, or a process where I know I'm about to die. Being fatally shot (preferably off guard) would be fine with me. Not that I want to be shot :P I would prefer to live, I'm just saying that as far as actual dying goes it's on the "better" side for me. |

Not concerned at all. I'm gonna die, you're gonna die, it don't matter, we all dyin' It's something you can't stop and something that shouldn't be stopped, and I'm glad death exists. I have a feeling by the time I'm on my deathbed, the world will be a much worse place. |

I try not to think about it because I'm the sort of person to obsess over every possible outcome or ending to something no matter how ridiculous such as "Should I go to the shop today? I run the risk of being in the shop while a plane crashes in to it!" Crap like that. So when I hit the half way mark on the average human life span I am probably going to have some kind of break down. My hope is that the fact that I never get ill, rarely get injured by things and heal from things fast means that I'm superhuman and won't die... But how likely is that. My biggest fear is not knowing what death is, darkness for eternity? Heaven or hell? Reincarnation in to a single cell organism then death and reincarnation over and over? Becoming a ghost? So long as while being a ghost you could talk to other ghosts that's the only outcome I look favourably upon. Heaven with all its rules sounds like it would be awful, if it's just reliving the happiest time of your life forever my happiness isn't really rooted anywhere I can remember consciously so lord knows what would happen. So yeah I could probably write a million more words about how it scares me, hopefully there'll be some experimental immortality drug soon I'll jump on that. The worst thing about life, possibly being human is that your mind just can't grasp the thought of not being anymore. Time to go cry. |

I don't really care about my own death to be honest, nor do think about it a whole lot. It's too much of an unknown for me to really bother with it. |
