Has anyone ever read this one? It's about how the Joker first became the Joker.

Crazy Awesome Legend

I own two copies since I ordered one extra by mistake.

I thought it was fantastic. A real classic.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I've read this as well. Mark Hamill is also a fan and said that an animated adaptation of this comic would the the only time that he'd ever reprise his role as Joker again.
This comic also shows how Barbera Gordon became paralyzed, and essence, became "Oracle".

I know everyone else already recommended it, but I love The Killing Joke as well. It's my second favorite Batman graphic novel behind The Dark Knight Returns, though, I like Frank Miller a bit more than Alan Moore personally. Also, if you end up liking The Killing Joke, you should check out Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing. It's really underrated, and I think probably his best work, even though everyone recommends Watchmen and V For Vendetta.
