I love the way dbz is drawn. The unique eyes, the structure of their faces, etc.. The average anime style isn't bad it's just not as cool looking IMO. I'd probably give it a try if it was drawn like the average anime but definitely not like it as much There's actually been authors who drew pictures of dbz in their own style like kishimoto(author of naruto) and kubo(author of bleach). http://planetnamek.wordpress.com/2009/12/19/dragon-ball-by-other-eyes/ Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Apr 16 2014, 07:43 PM.

I wouldn't be the same to me. I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. |

The Naruto style one looks decent enough, but the rest just don't look good to The Führer. It's unappealing seeing the Z charm taken away. |

I really liked the one created by Kenjirou Takes***a (creator of Happy World) but I think one of the things that made me want to try DBZ was the unique style of it.. When I was younger, the normal style of anime creeped me out. EDIT: I didn't swear, it was in his name >~<;; Edited by Sky, Apr 17 2014, 01:39 AM.

Toriyama's unique art style is half of Dragon Ball's charm. I couldn't imagine the series being as enjoyable with it looking any other way. I will say, however, that the thought of Murata Yusuke drawing DB action sequences the same way he does for One-Punch Man makes me drool. Edited by Kaboom, Apr 17 2014, 05:48 AM.

I agree with Kaboom. Murata Yusuke actually has a pretty unique art style that would fit DB perfectly, especially during the actual fight scenes. If you actually notice, it's mostly the anime with unique art styles that end up making it big, even though there's usually a few exceptions to this rule. If you look at Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) and Eiichiro Oda (One Piece), both of them are successful partly due to their art style. Even though I personally hate Eiichiro Oda's art style and find it equivalent to a third grader's recess scribbling, that's a style that made it big. Toriyama's art style is so distinguishable and lovable or appealing, I will admit that his is likely part of the reason why Dragon Ball was so successful. Could you imagine a gag series like Dragon Ball being drawn by Kentaro Miura (Berserk)? It would work during the fight scenes, but that's about it. It would look weird during the gag scenes. I'm personally a huge fan of Hiromu Arakawa's art style (Fullmetal Alchemist). She successfully blends a more realistic style with a gaggy one, while making her adult male characters like Scar, Alex, and Hohenheim like solid, and actually "adult male-looking". Of course she also has her pretty-boys, but even they are clearly distinguishable as "male". Even Mr. Garfiel is distinguishable as male, despite him being a cross-dresser. It would take away some of it's luster, for sure. Toriyama is a God. |

Manga drawings are almost always better than the anime. So if it was the average anime. Then honestly the characters would be ugly |

I like Dragon Ball's art style, as it's unique from others, in a charming way. Some people I know have criticized Toriyama's art style, because they said that the eyes were too simplistic, but I'd rather have it be simplistic, than be the generic anime eyes. That said, there are some other artist's who's art styles would fit Dragon Ball, like Eiichiro Oda's, as they are both somewhat cartoony, at least for the earlier parts of Dragon Ball. Other than his, and a few others, most wouldn't fit the series. Edited by Rogafufuken, Apr 17 2014, 09:21 PM.
