Chrome Favourite Manga Elfen Lied, Black Lagoon, DBZ	In the show they portray Gohan as having this special hidden power as a child. This chosen one mentality. that later blossoms in the cell saga. but as the show progressed it was implied more that he was not special as the other boys go ssj at a younger age etc.

I think AT had plans of Gohan taking over as the Earth's hero, but realized later on that he wasn't fit for that role. It's not easy making a character that is planned to be a righteous hero, yet different from Goku. Gohan had a few elements in his mentality that AT didn't get rid of at the right time, which made him incapable of being the hero. ... Or fans pressured AT to keep Goku as the hero.

Firefox Favourite Manga Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Assassination Classroom, Deadman Wonderland	I have a feeling that Toriyama was going to groom Gohan for the role of Earth's mightiest hero, but it didn't work out the way that he wanted it to. Gohan was personified as Goku, but more "human" in the sense that he was more interested in his own education than he was in fighting. He seemed more to want to put Gohan into a reserve state, as in Goku would be the main fighter that we always would see, but Gohan's ability would be used when Goku had no option. I really feel that Goten was only created to give Trunks a pal that was his own age, considering that Gohan was so much older and wouldn't really provide him with a suitable playmate. Even Toriyama seemed to get lazy on Goten's design by making him look exactly like Goku. Gotenks obviously resulted from Goten and Trunks, but I can't really see any evidence that Toriyama actually intended him to be a substantial character. Gohan was really designed to be Goku's predecessor, but it became obvious to Toriyama that Gohan wasn't suited for the role.
	The vengeance is her's for as long as she stands by Him.

Gohan almost attained SSJ3 tier from training with a sword after having not trained for 7 years. More importantly, Gohan's potential exceeded the power of a fused SSJ3. Gohan still wins in my book.
	We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

This. Also there have been threads where people compared Gohan's potential to the kids and most people believe Gohan's potential wins by a landslide. Goten and Trunks seem to reach a plateau at an early age whereas Gohan keeps these giant hidden reserves all the way up to adulthood even with no training.

They had barely any training and they were already stronger than frieza. That's a slap to the face to all the times they struggled against frieza. Hell, if they turn ssj2 they can already beat cell.
