Gap between Goku and gohan during cell games

I have a hefty 2X gap between the two seeing as Goku couldn't surpass CG Gohan until 7 years later.

CG Goku: 1
CG Gohan: 2
Buu Saga Goku: 2.24
I don't have it nearly that much. Gohan's rage was the main reason behind his power in SSj2, and was suggested to be the possible reason why his SSj2 was weaker in the Boo Arc.

There's no reason to believe that Goku was that far away from reaching SSj2 during the Cell Arc. I have no doubts that he reached it within a few months following the Cell Games.

I also don't believe that Gohan was over 1.2x over Goku. We've seen characters be able to stomp others with gaps even smaller than that.

 I think it would have been better if this had been made clear for instance, have Gohan fight Cell evenly for awhile and have push Cell into increasing his power.

 kp quick edit, say two words or something

i would say 1.3-1.7 gap works fine
i hate gaps but thats what i would bet my money on

and goku definitely ssj2 within at least 2 years or so
ssj3 was said to take several years so 4-6 most likely IMO

That should settle it...

Gohan was just far greater...Cell just wanted to have fun against Goku, whereas he was actually going for the kill Vs Gohan..

How does a 30-35% gap sound?.

That makes Goku/Vegetas increases by Boo work well...

 Enough to where Goku would give Cell a Senzu bean and still be confident in Gohan. (was that only in the anime?)
Enough to where Gohan thought Goku was holding back.
Enough to where it took 7 years in Other World for Goku to surpass his son (Only to be quickly surpassed again by Gohan as the series ended).

Gohan was destined to be stronger then Goku, that was the whole point of his Character, and why Im rather upset with the new Dragon Ball media rather forgetting that..
