How much filler does Kai have?

I just began watching the first episode, and the very first scene is filler. It's a direct contradiction of Dragonball Minus too.

I'm aware, but it is canon. That wasn't the purpose of the thread though.

I would hope the purpose isn't to argue what's canon either... which is completely subjective.

Kai has less filler than the original anime series... but frustratingly more than it should considering it's supposed a far more accurate representation of the manga.

Instead of recycling old footage, it should have been reanimated accurately... instead we end up with a mostly filler free "filler free" incarnation.

Nah, I was just bringing up Minus because it came to my head lol. It had nothing to do with the thread. And thanks for the answer, I'll keep that in mind.

Well they need SOME filler so the scenes don't all look cut up/butchered. Some filler is needed as a sort of balance just so it doesn't look like a direct copy of the manga in animation otherwise the entire show would not look poorly edited. If they had wanted to get it exactly like the manga they should have just reanimated the entire show. Z had too much filler. I think Kai has just about the right amount of it.

What Kai seemed to do was keep the popular fillers. There are no filler episodes in Kai and closer to the original manga. It still got extended battles and scenes Toei felt explained situations more closely, even if it wasn't added to the manga.

Anyway, that's how I see it.
