I don't like the idea how Toriyama made Bardock and Gine a pack of softies with not as much Saiyan characteristics as I was hoping. It was pretty cool. It seemed more like a mean of selling more volumes of Jaco than anything. I'd rather stick with Toei's non-canon version of events. DB Minus wasn't (completely) awful, but for me it was nothing more than a poorly-written attempt of milking the franchise even more. Edited by Topographic Oceans, Apr 10 2014, 03:40 PM.

I still feel that I do not have to accept it as canon since it is not original and there are contradictions throughout it. I do not like how Freeza is worried about Super Saiyan God all of a sudden. That could have remained a mystery to everyone up until the Beers era. The original Super Saiyan destroyed Planet Saiya. If you do not want to call it Planet Saiya then that is fine. Everything is kosher with new DB related material and all -- especially more background about the Saiyans. But originality will always be where it is at.

If there's one thing from Toriyama that I've actually despised, it would be this. For the love all that is holy, leave Bardock the f*** alone!

Chrome Favourite Manga One Punch Man	I like it for what it is. It's the type of short, fun, feel-good kind of thing Toriyama seems to prefer sticking to with DB nowadays. Having the mystery of "who was Goku's mom" finally solved is a nice plus to the mythos, if nothing else. As far as story contradictions go, strictly speaking it doesn't go against anything Toriyama had in the original manga (and it even fixes an apparent age/year discrepancy in Battle of Gods). If you're fussing over how it contradicts the Bardock TV special, just think of it this way... We now simply have alternate manga and anime versions of Bardock's story, just like we already did for Trunks.

Google Chrome Favourite Manga Dragon Ball	Bardock isn't wearing the Saiyajin armor we see in this picture in the special: Sure you could argue he changed his attire later on, but then we have his head band, which is clearly from the Bardock Special. The thing belonged to Toma, not to mention the special inspired Toriyama to include Bardock into the manga in the first place. I'd say contradictions are apparent, and based on this I'm gonna say Toriyama's original intent trumps his current vision of Bardock's origin.
