Perhaps it's because of our long tradition of Shakespeare and the theatre but it seems to me that all the best actors in the world are British.

Daniel Day Lewis,
Daniel Craig
Judi Dench
Helen Mirren
Kate Winslet
Michael Gambon
Ian Mckellen
Patrick Stewart
Benedict Cumberbatch
David Tennant
Martin Freeman
Idris Elba
Michael Fassbender
Carrie Mulligan
Pierce Brosnan
Sean Connery
Liam Neeson
Colin Firth
Christian Bale
Gary Oldman
David Morrisey
Tom Hiddlestone
Ben Kingsley
Charles Dance
Jermey Irons
Maggie Smith
Alan Rickman
Ralph Fiennes

That's some list and I'm obviously missing out other big names. Point is, seems that our culture produces a lot of decent actors. Perhaps it's the theatre? Perhaps we nurture or train young actors better? Perhaps it's just the accent? I dunno but it's awesome either way.

Is Ewan McGregor British since he's Scottish? I've always been confused about that... lol

He's one of my faves.

Scottish is British. At least until they decide to succeed from the union.

Northern Irish is too but that's caused some issues as you may well know.

There's definitely a lot of great british actors, but there's also plenty of great american actors. It's just that they are hidden among all the talentless asses that are in movies nowadays.

Leo DiCaprio is definitely a class-actor. Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks are all great actors. George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon all have their moments. Marlon Brando was fantastic too.

I dont pretend to be a film expert, so i guess its not that surprising to me that i only recognized like 4 of the british actors tbh.

Bryan Cranston is an amazing actor and he's American.

But yes, most great actors are British.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great American actors. I just think that institutions like the Royal Shakespeare company and stage schools for children to learn the trade early give us Brits an extra edge.

Oh damn straight about Australia. Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Nicole kidman, Sam Worthington, Mel Gibson. Wonderful pool of actors.

How could I forget Hugo Weaving?

Gibson wasn't born in Australia, and I think Crowe was from NZ, but yeah, they're pretty good.
