No Fights at Night?

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

So in DBZ, there are virtually no fights that take place during the night.

The really weird instance:

-- Vegeta and Trunks in Rosat for whole day. No night was shown

Any particular reason? I think it would be cool to have one/some fights during the night

Is Toriyama afraid of the dark? :D
We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

The closet we get is the battle against Vegeta in the saiyan saga, where it appeared to be dusk but you have ha very good point. It is something I notice throughout the series.

This happened in the movies and GT

Goku vs Dr. Wheelo wasn't at night, but in a cave so it was dark
Goku vs Turles was at night
Goku vs Lord Slug was at night because of eternal winter
Goku vs Meta-Cooler Core was dark because of being inside the ship
Goku vs Broly was at night
Gohan vs Broly was at dusk
Hirudegarn was at night
The battle against Omega was at night

I've been wondering about the exact same thing too recently.

One scene that comes to mind though is gohan turning great ape and piccolo having to stop him. That's pretty much it though. Hirudegarn fight took place at night but that wasn't written by toriyama

It wasn't "Z" technically, but Goku vs. Jackie Chun stretched into the night and next morning.

I guess there are many fights that actually are at night or in a dark place, like the people said here, but I can imagine them choosing daytime just for the sake of the show.

Like, maybe they thought it looks better during daytime.

Fights during the day save on ink & inking time.

^That's a good point. Plus I also think they just thought it looks better to have the fights during daylight. Probably the reason Toriyama decided that Namek should never have darkness too.

True.
The inking thing was actually the one, major contributing factor for the Super Saiyan design. Toriyama's assistant wouldn't have had to do the black fill as much because Goku's hair wasn't black, therefore it freed up to time to do other stuff.
