The others had all found training partners by the time Zaron was walking away from them. He decided against training with a partner when he remembered he was the only one that could help him. Partners only held him back. He made a beeline for King Kai’s house, arriving at the dome-shaped hut in no time. He raised his gloved hand and knocked on the being’s door. He was met with no response so he knocked again. Finally, there was a disturbance in the silence, and soon King Kai spoke from inside his house. “Alright, alright, I’m coming!” He opened his small door, looking up at Zaron. “Sheesh, can’t a guy get some rest around here?” The Saiyan studied the tiny man in front of him before speaking. “I demand you train me.” “Demand, huh…?” King Kai was silent for a moment. “Alright, let’s see what you’ve got.” Without warning, King Kai threw his arm out and effortlessly pushed Zaron out of the way. He moved forward and motioned for the Saiyan to follow him. “Come on, let’s not dilly-daddle now.” How could I be so weak as to let him do that to me? He used no effort at all to move me out of his way! This is absurd! Am I simply that weak that a tiny being such as him can move me, a warrior? The Saiyan grunted and obliged, following King Kai to an unoccupied area behind his house. “What are we doing?” “There are three things you must do before I can train you,” King Kai began, a stern look on his face. “What are they?” “You must first make me laugh.” Zaron’s right eyebrow twitched. “You’re serious?” The short blue man nodded. “Ugh…” Zaron griped. Comedy was not something he favored. He crossed his arms and began his joke. “So there was a cucumber, an olive and a penis talking. The cucumber says ‘I hate my life. When I get big, fat and juicy, they cut me up and put me in salad’. The olive says ‘That’s nothing. When I get big, fat and juicy, they cut me up and put me on pizza’. The penis says ‘You think you have it bad? When I get big, fat and juicy, they put a bag over me, throw me in a cave, shut the door and leave me there until I explode’.” At first the joke seemed not to phase the blue being, but then it finally hit him. He erupted in laughter, a tear sliding down his face. After laughing for a few minutes, he calmed down and looked back up at Zaron, stern in his expressions. “Alright, you’ve passed the first test. Your second test…” A monkey climbed down from a tree next to the house, running over to King Kai’s side. “This is Bubbles. You must catch him in order to go on to the third test.” King Kai nodded his head and Bubbles ran off. He began snickering. “Good luck. Hehe.” Zaron wasted no time in beginning his second test. He took off after the monkey, but soon realized it wouldn’t be as easy as he’d originally thought. The gravity on the planet was weighing him down, slowing his movements. He pushed through this obstacle, though, running after the monkey regardless. “I’m from Planet Vegeta. I should be used to this level of gravity!” “Look at him struggling, boys! He’s a weakling. He’s the son of Seripa yet he can’t even fight back. What a waste of our time.” Images of fellow Saiyans that tormented him as a youngster floated in front of him. He swatted at one boy, but tripped over the cement sidewalk and fell onto his face. He propped himself up onto his elbows and smashed the sidewalk with his clenched fists, cursing loudly. The Saiyan boys continued to taunt him, causing him more emotional pain. He clenched his fists so tightly his nails ripped through the gloves and into his skin, blood dripping out onto the sidewalk. “Go away, go away!!” he shouted, pounding his fists into the sidewalk angrily, cracking it more and more with each pound. One Saiyan boy unzipped his pants and attempted to urinate on Zaron. The downed Saiyan warrior’s testosterone burst throughout his body and his aura engulfed him, breaking an entire section of the sidewalk and killing a large unit of grass. The images of the Saiyan boys dissolved as Zaron floated upright and jolted forward faster than he ever had before, moving toward Bubbles at an alarming speed. “Nobody taunts me!! I am a warrior, not a punching bag!” He caught up to Bubbles momentarily, grabbing the monkey by the tail. He pulled the monkey down to the grass and held him there as King Kai walked up to them. “So you’ve passed the second test,” the Kai said, seemingly unimpressed. “Your last test is to catch Gregory, my little buggy friend here…” He pointed to his shoulder where a bug-looking creature sat. Zaron stood up, releasing Bubbles from his cruel grasp. Talking through his teeth, he said, “Another bug to squash…? Fine! I’m ready for anything you’ve got, King Kai.” Once I’ve attained the strength promised to us, I’ll wipe you out. King Kai smiled a little as Gregory leapt from his shoulder and flew right past the Saiyan. He’s pretty impressive, this Saiyan. He caught Bubbles on his first day here. With 364 days still left before the Saiyans arrive, he might just be able to learn the Kaio-ken technique, something not even I have mastered… The blue man turned away from Gregory and Zaron and made his way back to his house. Catching Gregory proved a lot more difficult and tedious than catching Bubbles. The little bug eluded his grasp time and time again, showing himself to be 10x as tricky and quick as the monkey. The bug pissed Zaron off so badly that the Saiyan passed out from sheer exhaustion. He slept for thirteen days straight, memories of his past rarely entering his mind for some odd reason. At the end of the thirteenth day, Gregory made the foolish mistake of hanging out in the tree Zaron was sleeping under, watching the Saiyan. “You’ll never catch me sleeping on the job!” Gregory teased, lowering his head out from the tree a little. Suddenly a hand gripped the bug’s thin arm. He looked over his shoulder and there the Saiyan was, sitting in the branch above him, grinning smugly. “You’ll never elude anybody being fooled so easily,” Zaron said, lifting the bug up and dropping out of the tree. “I thought you would’ve known about my afterimage technique. I guess I expected too much of you, little bug. Pfeh.” The triumphant Saiyan carried the outsmarted bug over to King Kai’s place. The blue man was enjoying some tea when he saw the two. “Wow, you managed to catch Gregory as well, and in less than 40 days too!” King Kai said, putting his tea down onto the table beside him. “You’ve passed all three tests, Zaron.” The proud Saiyan released Gregory, tossing him next to King Kai. “I’ve kept up my end, now you train me. I am the only hope the Earth has of beating those other Saiyans, after all.” He grinned. He’s certainly gotten cockier since he arrived here. Maybe my training is releasing something deep inside him, something dangerous. I’m not so sure allowing him the use of the Kaio-ken technique is such a good idea now. King Kai snorted and straightened the black glasses on his face. “Alright, I’ll train you… Dodge this!” A 5x5x5 slab of brick materialized in the air, speeding toward Zaron. The Saiyan barely had time to dodge it when another one came hurtling his way. This time he was hit by it, but he wasn’t moved from his place. He grabbed the slab in the air and screamed, dark red ki blasting through it. As it crumbled to pieces, yet another one came his way. He held out his palm and yelled, “Envoy of the End!” Bursting forth from his palm came a dark red lump of ki. It shot forward, enveloping the brick slab, deteriorating it instantly. The Saiyan put his hand down and looked at King Kai. “Anymore tricks up your sleeve or is this all the training you have, King Kai? Give me something challenging.” “Fine, you want something challenging? Wax my car!” He burst into laughter, rolling over on the ground. Zaron didn’t find this humorous in the slightest. He raised his hand in the direction of King Kai’s classic car and shouted, “Sounds like you’re having a problem with your car. Here, why don’t I fix that for you?!” King Kai protested, “No, no!! Calm down, Zaron! I was only joking! Sheesh. You’re really not a fun guy to be around. I can’t imagine what your childhood must’ve been like.” The Saiyan’s eyes widened as King Kai reminded him of that point in his life. “My… childhood…?” His body became calm and relaxed for some reason. His hand fell to his side and his shoulders slumped. He closed his eyes. “King Kai, please train me. I must grow stronger in order to defeat the Saiyans threatening the planet I call home.” Hm, his mood changes so radically. One moment he’s ready for the kill and the next he won’t even harm a fly. “Most of my training has already been completed.” “Hn? What do you mean?” “Catching Bubbles and Gregory was two-thirds of my training. The only part left to do is teach you the Kaio-ken technique. But I must warn you, it’ll take much more effort to learn this technique than you’ve displayed here so far.” “I’m ready, King Kai. But I must ask, what is Kaio-ken?” “A technique that instantly amplifies the ki inside one’s body, multiplying all that person’s abilities, including power, speed, defense, etc. Since it makes one capable of utilizing battle power many times their own ability, it is extraordinarily effective during battles with formidable opponents. However, because it is impossible to multiply excessively far beyond one’s abilities, experimenting with an unreasonably high Kaio-ken might destroy one’s own body.” “It’s imperative that I learn this technique, King Kai.” “Then let’s begin. You passed each test within 13 days. That’s very impressive. That leaves you with 352 days to learn and master the Kaio-ken technique. I think you have a really good chance with this given the time you have…” For the next 150 days, King Kai trained Zaron in his ways and introduced him to the Kaio-ken technique. The training was harsh, pushing the Saiyan to his limits continuously, causing him to realize more about himself than he ever had before in his life. He was rendered incapacitated for 25 of those 150 days due to the toll the training had taken on him. He thought about giving up once, but a voice spoke to him from beyond. “Zaron, don’t you dare give up! You’re a Saiyan, not a pathetic Arlian! Saiyans don’t give up! We are a warrior race and if you give up, you’re disgracing all of us! You got that?! Get your pathetic a*** up and do this! For your race!” “My… race? My race?! My race cast me out!!!” Zaron shouted at the top of his lungs, his body slowly lifting up into the air. Small spears of electricity crackled around his muscular body as he floated higher into the air. “I’ll get revenge on the Saiyans! They can’t throw me out! I was what a Saiyan was meant to be – cold and ruthless, always on the hunt for a fight!!” He spread his body out, a red aura engulfing him. But this red aura was different than his usual aura; this aura was blazing and brighter. The planet began to shudder underneath his power as he roared. “They were afraid of me!!!” King Kai fell to his butt as the Saiyan expelled his rage and resentment for his own race. Wow, his power just shot up enormously! He’s finally gotten the hang of things! I can’t believe this. Ah… The planet stopped shaking as Zaron began laughing sinisterly, his aura changing back to its normal dark red hue. He descended slowly back down the ground in front of King Kai, his arm outstretched, his palm preparing a ki blast for the blue creature. “The moment has finally arrived. I’ve been planning this all along. There’s no need for you to say it – I know I’ve surpassed you. Now I’m going to kill you so nobody else can ever achieve this sort of power again!” “No, wait!” “Too late, fool!” Zaron let loose the ki blast from his palm, cackling as the blast missed King Kai’s head by just a few centimeters. Riddled with fear, King Kai lowered his arms from his face and opened his eyes. He blinked a few times, then stared up at Zaron. “Wh-Why did you go and do that?!” “I can be a funny man, after all, King Kai.” Zaron turned away from King Kai, observing the other fighters continuing their training. “Hm, they won’t be necessary for the Saiyan threat. I’ll defeat those Saiyans on my own. I can feel how much my power has grown. I’ll continue training on my own, as your services will no longer be necessary.” “Zaron, you have a tail!” King Kai snapped, pointing to the tail protruding from the bottom of Zaron’s back. “All of this training coupled with that display of rage you just showed must’ve released your tail. You didn’t have it when you arrived, that’s for sure.” “Hmph, I was waiting for it to grow back,” Zaron responded, walking off, not at all surprised at his tail’s arrival. “Who knows, it might come in handy in the future.” And with that, Zaron stalked off, proud of his new accomplishments. With 202 days left for himself, he had enough time to practice with the Kaio-ken and increase his strength even more. Now with a tail added to the equation, he had something else to focus on mastering as well. Saiyans… They’ll be sorry they ever cast me out. I’ll make sure of that. They’ll see that how powerful I am when I take out both of those Saiyans back on Earth. I am the ultimate warrior. Edited by Pyrus, Apr 3 2014, 05:47 PM.
