Not really.

- He left Earth because he knew that SSJ Gotenks would be enough to beat Fat Buu

- He let Vegeta fight Buu longer because he didn't have the right power to do so.

- He left with Uub to make sure someone would defend Earth in his place.

Buu Saga Goku aint as bad as people make him out to be
Goku wanted Buu to be reincarnated so that he could have a decent training partner, not train someone to protect the Earth. In addition to this, Pan was pretty into fighting, more so than any of the boys seemed to be, why didn't he simply opt to train her instead of leaving his family behind? The reason being that he knew that Boo's re-incarnation would be at the TB, and he decided to train him to get stronger so that he could fight him.

Goku specifically stated that he and Vegeta should fight alone because "Boo was alone now too". He didn't even want to get an advantage because it would've been "unfair". When someone kills your entire family and destroys your home, what kind of a**hole gives a s*** about what's fair? He seemed to have no problem fighting out of rage when Krillin was killed by both Tambourine and Freeza.

Goku had no way of knowing how strong Gotenks would be. He also had no idea how strong Boo actually was. He kept saying that he could've defeated him, but Goku was surprised by Boo's abilities at every turn.

I love Buu saga Goku, the SSJ3 transformation is still to me Goku's most badas* transformation with the ssj tranformation for 19 and 20 right behind.

I also enjoyed the Majin Vegeta fight and I just wish they had gone with Gogeta instead of the spirit bomb.

I do feel Goku was finally acting more like a saiyan in the Buu saga.

Android Arc for me, if you include Cell Games.

I just like that he wasn't the hero for a change. He put Gohan over.

Saiyan and Namek saga Goku. He had peaked as a character and was the complete package. Before that he was too childish for me(except for late teens Goku) and after that he developed some unlikeable qualities.

- So why wouldn't the same be true for Pan then? He could easily have a good sparring partner out of her if that was his goal.

- The only thing is having Gogeta or Vegito kill Buu would be extremely anti-climatic. The situation was also different. Kid Buu was at a level where he's not overwhelmingly stronger than the protagonists (albeit SSJ3 Goku) unlike Buuhan who was leagues above Goku and Vegeta so Fusion/Potara wasn't a must here.

- Goku wouldn't be confident in leaving if he didn't think SSJ Gotenks was stronger than him and capable of beating Buu. Would he really want to invest so much time in the boys if their not capable of beating the pink blob? Sounds counterproductive to me.

SSJ3 Goku wasn't a lot stronger than Fat Buu as much as people think he is. He had an advantage but not something really big.

As much as I hate the Buu arc, probably Buu arc Goku is the only version of Goku I liked (up until end of Z anyway).

I found that throughout most of Z, he was pretty selfish, but hid it under the guise of 'oh, i'm doing this for the good of the world.' I mean, Vegeta was just as selfish, except he was pretty open about it and didn't give a f*ck what everyone else thought about it. Of most the big fights, Goku was more interested in fighting someone powerful, rather than for the sake of others.
From what I saw of Goku in the Buu arc, it was probably the only time that he was genuinely fighting for selfless reasons to actually save not just earth, but all other worlds in general. Goku finally decided to intervene in to the fight not for himself, but because he realised the magnitude of the problem Buu presented.

Of course, after killing Buu, Goku went back to being a selfish f*cker by wishing for Buu to reincarnated so he could fight him again.

I like Android Saga Goku more than anyone, in Saiyan and Namek arc I didn't like as he was coming the whole time after a riduculously huge power up and took control of the matter, and in Buu Saga he could just finish off Buu but rather chose to give the boys a change, android saga Goku seemed more better to me, he knew when he was weaker and was outclast and wanted to train he's son more than he's self.
