Off topic, vaginas are gross and scare me. :/ Sort of on topic; a lot of people make exceptions for rape victims getting abortions. Because the men vs. women thing came up anyway, do you by chance think it's because rape is the one case where a man looks like the bad guy? |

Of course there is, imo. & I strongly disagree. There's absolutely nothing ugly about 'em! Their beauty is absolutely 100% flawless! Edit: @Krystal. Interesting point there. That could be why a lot of men support the rape scenario and not abortion in general, but I feel like most men support that scenario for different reasons. |

Krystal, you warm up to them with time... Good point about the rape thing. Rape is bad, obviously, but is it weird that I don't consider it that bad? I mean, what is it, 1 out of every 6 women that get raped? 1 out of 4? It's a very common thing, as scary and sad as that is, but it isn't always the most traumatic thing ever like television, movies, and radical feminists make it out to be. Apparently either 1 out of 8 or 1 out of 6 men are raped in their lifetime as well. So why excuse only rape victims and children when rape isn't always the worst case scenario? Just some random thoughts I guess. There are better excuses for abortion out there. And now I feel like a crazy person, rambling on. |

@ofg I guess I'll repeat myself so you won't have to go through the trouble of finding my responses. ![]() Rape: because the women had no choice in the matter. Minor pregnancy: because their bodies can't handle having a child. (In most cases) I'm sure I could think of other exceptions if I wanted to, but these two stick out to me the most. |

What if the condom breaks? Then, technically, the woman had no choice in the matter. |

I would say it is less to do with their bodies not being able to handle it so much as mentally we don't mature as quickly these days. @everyone, please no more reference to genitals and such, they're not exactly relevant to the conversation. |

The women having sex knows that there's a chance the condom will break. (Even though the chance is extremely minimal, like Lunar2 said)Therefore if it breaks, she shouldn't be allowed to have an abortion because she knew there was always a chance of that happening. |

Yeah, and you could argue that a woman who walks down a dark alley knows that there's a chance of getting raped and knocked up. Women know that there's always a chance of getting raped. It's ridiculous, but hey. Just sayin' |

You have a good point there. But women can't just stay at home all day cause they might get raped. They have to leave the house sometime, so there's nothing they could do to reduce their chance of getting raped to 0%. However, the same can't be said about getting pregnant via a condom breaking. Because you can reduce the percentage to 0% in that case by simply avoiding sex. @Tim I completely agree that the main reason why minors should be able to abort is their maturity. Most 16-17 year old girls are nowhere near mature enough to have a child. |

Then how do you decide what a minor age is? If it’s 18 then how much of a difference is there physically between a 17 and 18 year old body? And some people mature faster than others, physically and mentally. This just seems like another arbitrary criteria. It would have to be enforced legally and then it would suck if you’re a few weeks or days away from turning 18 when you get pregnant and want to get an abortion. |

@Warriorrace I consider anyone under 18 a minor. & the same can be said about a 17 year old & a 16 year old. & that's very true, but the vast majority of minors are not ready for children. Sure, there are some who are ready, but definitely only a small portion. |

So you're saying women should not have sex unless they plan on getting pregnant then? That seems slightly impractical and unfair. Also, most rape victims are raped by someone they know fyi, staying at home doesn't reduce it to 0% either. So just like a woman has to leave their house sometime likewise a woman is more than likely to have sex with their partner now and then and if it happens that the failsafes dont work then you think they just have to deal with it? |

I didn't mean to say minors are ready. What I mean is that an 18 year old isn't very different from a 17 year old. The cutoff is too arbitrary. It wouldn't be fair to deny an 18 year old the right to choose to have an abortion just because she turned 18. Also, there's also a lot of 18 year olds in high school. I doubt they're mature enough to handle a pregnancy and a child, or at least they should have the right to choose if they're ready. |

nice strawman you got there. no one said any of that. comparing the woman's convenience to the fetus's life is not saying the woman is less important than the fetus. notice exactly what we are comparing here: convenience vs. life. and here is why taking that life is wrong. killing is not wrong because of the barbarism shown by the killer. it is not wrong because of what you are taking from those left behind. it is wrong because of what you are doing to the victim. you are taking your victim's future away. if killing an already born child who is not wanted by their family is wrong, then killing an unborn child is just as wrong, because they have the same opportunity for a future of value as that child who is already born. it is the future that is important, not the present, and not the past. that's why voluntary euthanasia is not wrong. the person has no future of value, either because their life is going to end soon, anyway, or because their future will be afflicted with so much pain. but you still need the person themselves to decide if their future has value or not. by killing the fetus, you are denying them that choice to define their future, and that chance for them to find value in their lives. that decision should not be made lightly, and certainly should have a very good reason to be made. as for abortion being "necessary for feminine equality". why is abortion being used around the world for sex selection, then? families are getting ultrasounds to determine the sex of the baby, and then aborting it if it is female. women can't be equal to men if they are dead. |

@Tim that's not what I'm trying to say. They should be aware of the possibility of getting pregnant. I believe there's less than a 1% chance of a condom breaking. (I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that's the percentage.) So odds are, it's not going to break. But if it does they should have the child. The main reason for this is because any women can claim that a condom broke. So if it was legal to get an abortion via a condom break, then women everywhere would just say that their condom broke. &As for the rape thing, I was unaware of that. I had no idea that most women were raped by people they know. @warriorrace really good points. But that's like saying why can't a 25 year old date a 17 year old cause they're not that different from an 18 year old. & that's very true. Most women in high school aren't nearly mature enough. Maybe we should start considering people under 20 minors? |
