So I've been reading a ton of American comics lately, and that's caused a bit of a falling out with manga for me. But I really want to get back into it soon (probably this summer when I have tons of free time) and was thinking of stocking up on some volumes to read.

Can anyone recommend a few really good series that I could buy in English? Keep in mind that I already know the obvious ones and have probably read a lot of them already. :/

I've read more than I own. Let's see if I can list them.

One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, The Flowers of Evil, No Longer Human, Another, Vinland Saga, Doubt, some Tezuka works, 20th Century Boys, Btooom, Death Note, Bakuman, Claymore, Blue Exorcist, Parasyte, some random shojos, Sundome, Lament of the Lamb, Vagabond, and a few more.

Ambiguously great stories would be awesome. ^_^

From the few I've read, I would suggest Toriko or Berserk, the former admittedly has a weak start (the first saga is 100 chapters, which I've completed, but haven't gotten past that due to trying out different stuff in the meantime), but it gets a lot better from what I hear. Plus, it's already still in early on in the story, being only over 250 chapters, and its popularity and sales already rival that of Bleach, if that matters to you... And its creativity and world building is on par with One Piece's as well, believe it or not.

Then there's Berserk, which might not be everyone's thing because of how graphic it is, but I'm 12 volumes in and it's already my favorite series, even surpassing One Piece for me, if that means anything. Also, the art is considered one of the best in the world, which could give you something to appreciate, and even though the author takes long breaks, lately, he's going to continue his story on April 11th. This is also a very popular series.

As for collecting something you've already read, One Piece and Death Note are definitely good options, as both are good and popular series, and they also look good in Manga collections.

I own all the ones I listed and have read more than that.

Been meaning to check out Berserk, but the volumes are so damn expensive.

Yeah, I've heard of them.

I already own Blood Lad, I don't wanna read Kuroko online :'( and Toriko and Beezlebub don't really sound all that interesting to me... Medaka Box I've never heard of, but I'm assuming it isn't published in English.

Thank you! I'll have to give Blood Lad a read since it's been sitting on my shelf for a while.

yeah blood lad is a bit generic but i still found it a good time passer.

ur right u cant actually buy enlgish medaka box but i find that you would really like it

its a pretty enjoyable manga, as is Haruhi Suzumiya

i for some reason have a gut feeling that you would like both, anyways happy reading

oh and i know for fact that there are a few diff types of Haruhi Suzumiya in English i have seen em in stores

maybe just stick to the anime for that though if ur interested i cant say from experience if the manga is good ive only watched the anime

but i highly recommend the latter two i mentioned

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

Bit of an old topic, but I didn't see Fullmetal Alchemist on your list.

Not sure if you would want to read a manga where you can just watch the direct anime adaptation (Brotherhood). There's a few minor changes in Brotherhood, but the plot of the two are pretty much exactly the same.

Excel Saga was pretty interesting too, and the anime adaptation was mostly gaggy filler. It's the same thing with Soul Eater. The manga is more dark, and the anime/manga stories are considerably different.
