GT Misconceptions

"I am the bone of my sword."

We use to have a thread I believe involving misconceptions about GT, all those so called mistakes and plotholes that are common with the fandom but are completely wrong because people are stupid and don't know anything about the original material. I want to do such a thing again here and get all the misconceptions we can about GT as a series and then sticky it.

and since GT is hardly my area of expertise I'll need the experts to help me out here.

Well for one, there's the argument that Toriyama had no involvement in GT despite the former being completely false and untrue. He drew a lot of the character design, concept art, and other stuff for GT and it was his idea (believe it or not) to have Vegeta with a mustache lol. Kanzenshuu had a panel on this some years ago where they talk about the issue in more depth.

I'm not a expert on GT by any means, but I can think of a few:

-All of the Saiyans besides Goku are extremely weak. It's not hard to find people saying that they are all much weaker than in Z.
-That Gohan's Super Saiyan form came back because he "didn't train".
-That Super No. 17 is "twice as strong" as he was before fusing.
-That Vegeta's mustache is a plothole.
-That the series had absolutely no involvement from the part of Toriyama. He did all of the initial character designs and I'm pretty sure he came up with some really vague story ideas.

edit: Yusuke ninja'd me on the last one.

Also when you put up a misconcept, add in the reason why it is. For example.

1.) Misconception: Vegeta shouldn't have a moustache.

Correction: *Insert reason why Vegeta can have a stache because AT did this and in the original manga Saiyan facial hair said that...you get the idea)

Because of course its not like I don't trust any of you but we need to have something backing it up.

For example in that 2x 17 business, you would add that such a line is never giving in the original Japanese.

Also. I think it might have been Toriyama's idea for Goku to be a child again.

I can't say i'm 100% sure about that though.

Thanks for pointing that out.

-All of the Saiyans besides Goku are extremely weak. It's not hard to find people saying that they are all much weaker than in Z.

C: There's no way people like Goten and Trunks could actually survive battles against people thousands of times stronger than their "Z" incarnations if they didn't actually improve.

-That Gohan's Super Saiyan form came back because he "didn't train".

C: The GT perfect files state that he "didn't neglect his training". Considering the fact that this guidebook was written by the actual creators of the series, it has as much value as a guidebook written by Toriyama would have for the canon series.

-That Super No. 17 is "twice as strong" as he was before fusing.

C: That's never stated on the original.

-That Vegeta's mustache is a plothole.

C: Saiyans were never stated not to be able to grow facial hair, and it's a bit far-fetched to think that people like Nappa were actually born with them.

-That the series had absolutely no involvement from the part of Toriyama.

C: More on it here.

The thing is if Gohan didn't neglect his training, he still wouldn't need to go super saiyan since his hidden kis were already ritually unlocked by the Elder kai.

Even if you believe that he got weaker and somehow "lost" his power-unlock, it's not because of lack of training. It's literally stated by the creators themselves. But really, I don't think that's the right thread to discuss that.
