That feeling when life passes you by

Day by day, week by week, slowly year by year..

If anyone is comfortable talking about it, what's the biggest regret you've ever had?

Mine I'd have to say would be wasting 2 of my glory years over what I thought to be the love of my life, as all teenagers do (Timespan differs of course). So many friends lost. So much time spent wondering what if.

Taking a quote from a T.V show:
"Live for today, because the past has already gone and tomorrow may never come."

I think everybody feels it like this once in a while. It comes in difficult periods in our lives, when negative thoughts are prominent. I would try not to think too much about it, just try to do something to evade those thoughts. God knows we all have regrets in life, and nothing good comes off thinking about it. Live by the quote you posted.

We all go through it to some extent. Heck, I'm going through it right now. I also wasted over two years of my life on someone I thought I would be with forever, and I still waste my time wallowing over it and making myself miserable. It's been six months, and I'll probably feel like this for quite a while. It feels like a complete waste, but you have to try to look at the positives. Surely you accomplished something in that time span. You and I both probably learned a lot about love and relationships during that time period. I've been learning to cope with loss and depression. It'll get better. ^_^

Much agreed. I have become stronger because of it also a lot more wiser I feel when trying to help other friends out. It's not impacting me at the moment this happened roughly 5-6 years ago; But time I still won't get back none the less. I s'pose thinking about it won't bring the time back either =p. I can assure you it gets easier and you'll feel better after a while.

Hope you feel happier soon!

EDIT: Impacting me in the way it did before..I mean. I hope that makes sense lol. Just too much time to think last night

Might as well make it an even three on the "wasted years on dumb love" train. I'm not going into it here, you can see details on my blog. Damn good quote you live by there. I have my own I use:

"The past is a worn path that disappears into the distance. The future is a dark forest waiting to have a trail blazed. Today is nothing less than a gift. That is why it is called the present. Enjoy it fully, or you will regret the time not spent."

I often have "wtf am I doing with my life" moments, usually when spending hours surfing internet forums.

I'm 25, totally supposed to be an adult. But here I am drawing DBZ characters, going to theme parks as often as normal people go to a bar and getting excited about Coke Freestyle machines.

You are only as old as you feel. Nothing wrong with being young at heart. Many people make a living off doing just that. Look at cartoon eposode writing for proof.

I agree, I figure that as long as you are within the boundries of the law - you should be able to live the life the way you want mate. Nothing wrong with being 25 and doing the things you do, liking the things you like.

I like that quote Daemon - the present is like a gift, that's why it's called the present!

Making it a fantastic four on wasted years over dumb love. Wasted 19-21 on a heartless, gutless "human." And people say I'm a monster, heh.

Even though I'm totally happy with the woman I'm going to marry, and I'm "young" according to society, I still feel old as f***. I miss the days when I just had to go to school, when I could spend hours with my friends playing video games or whatever. Now we all have jobs and responsibilities, and once I move to Florida(?), we won't see each other probably ever again. Years used to go by really slowly, then I got older and now the time flies. I'll be 40 before I know it. It frustrates me a lot more than it should. Sometimes it drives me even more insane. My fiancée called me a "baby" when we first met because she's about five years older than me, and I just don't see it.

Part of the problem is I don't/can't do much during the winter months, activity-wise, so I'm stuck brooding. With summer coming up it'll be a lot more fun. Street racing, fighting, working on the house, vacations to Florida(?), running, just doing anything but working and doing inside s***.

I can't bungee jump, jump off my balcony, run up cliffs and rocks, swim through the lake, work out as intensely, run half-marathons (because f*** whole ones), all of that stuff when I'm old...I feel like time's just running out.
