Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans
![]()

Although I love DBZ a lot more than GT, it is still an entertaining show in its own right. Interestingly, it seems that many people can accept that the weakest of DBZ characters are stronger than the most powerful of DB characters, yet for some reason, they cannot handle GT characters being more powerful than DBZ characters, like Vegito. What do you guys think of this particular pattern? Edited by SuperSaiyan1993, Mar 18 2014, 02:55 AM.

I was referring to characters like Meta Rildo and Baby Vegeta. But you are absolutely right -- the whole concept of Super 17's power is some of the biggest retconning bs I've seen Was it a somewhat entertaining fight: Yes, maybe Did they have to give that pathetic excuse for a plot and relegate Cell at the same time: No |

17's power is just like fusion dance don't really see the problem here especially when Hell fighter 17 is much stronger than android 17 of course he's gonna be strong then add to the fact he can absorb energy to make him stronger no wonder he's so strong |

I think it's just because people don't like big numbers for whatever reason. With Buu Saga, things sorta "escalated quickly" in terms of power gaps, so people don't like to accept that it escalated even further with GT. I think. |

I think it's bias and easy to jump onto the bandwagon. |

I simply think people don't have a problem with Z greatly surpassing DB because they don't care for a good deal of the main cast. I for one only like Roshi, Krillin, Piccolo, and Goku. At the end of the day only 2 characters ate sh**, and Roshi and Krillin are still there for comic relief. In GT Every character other than Goku, Vegeta, and Pan become the north side of useless, and even then Vegeta and Pan don't do much as well. Furthermore all the previous villains became laughing stocks, which totally rubbed people the wrong way since I feel most people thought Z's villains were far more interesting than both DB's and GT's. Z also ended things with a villain that seemed like the complete package. Even the grunts of GT surpass what was the strongest being in the known universe at the time. I feel people are justified in being annoyed when random a** people just show up and surpass the supposed strongest in the universe.

It's because Gt is truly the worst anime there is. Even worse than School Days and One Piece. |

It's justified to be annoyed but that shouldn't be any backing for a debate, which is where people get it twisted. |

It's a lot of horsecrap really. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it has to be changed to suit your liking. I don't think there's a problem with GT villians outclassing Z villians. It's a good way to establish a villian by having them a lot stronger than the previous one. Hell, Z made good use of this practice. Just think of the gaps from 100% Frieza to SPC and the one from SPC to Buuhan. These ones are probably even bigger than the gaps we saw in GT. What really irks me is the reasoning people use to exprss their disdain for GT. "I don't think Super Bebi Vegeta should be stronger than SSJ Vegito". "I don't want Rild to be stronger than Buu". Seriously GT haters, grow a pair. |

"Don't want" and "don't think" aren't even valid reasons in a debate. And then we'll get into "well, it's a cartoon so you can think what you want and never be wrong! :D" Yeahhh...then I'd say don't get into a debate with that mindset. |

I can handle overpowered characters. But it should be justified. GT failed at that. Mole, a Frog & a Duck (Evil Shenrons) as rival to Super Saiyan 4 is not only insulting, its trash. |

Z villains were already laughing stocks in Z itself. The guy that can one-shot Freeza is one of the weakest and most useless of the cast, and Goku casually remarks that Dabura is as strong as Cell, like it didn't really matter much. Senseless power-scalation was there for the whole series. A scientist that's supposed to be tied to a army Goku fought in the past, even tough we never saw him before, is able to create a bunch of androids that put the villain from the previous arc (that received tons of build up as the strongest of the universe, second only to the Super Saiyan) to shame. "Over-poweredness" is a problem in both series. GT is awfully inferior to Z, but it's a enjoyable series in it's own right. In the end, it's the same powering-up and mindless fighting dynamic Z had. It's not played as well, but it's not awful either. Some of it's biggest errors were already here on the previous series, some in smaller scale and others just as bad. I still think DB > both other series, tough. |

We just gotta accept that, "it is GT." will be the real answer to this until the day we all die off and go to Home For Infinite Losers. :P That is just how it is. Jumping on the bandwagon and hanging out with the cool kids from school is the perfect answer overall. You can make some sense out of GT if you take the time to sit down and do it. It isn't going to come out topnotch, 120% clean from mistakes or what some people cannot accept, but it is still an enjoyable show, yes. Now we're just exaggerating if it is still hurting our eyes after all this time. |
