When someone shoots a ki blast and hits someone, does their body absorb most of the damage or something? Like when krillin fired a full power blast at vegeta and nappa along with the saibamen. Krillin's full power blast at this point is definitely capable of blowing the moon. But when it hits vegeta and nappa, no damage whatsoever is done to ground around them. Is it just a plot hole? Does it have to do with the way ki blasts hit? Do we still call krillins full power blast at vegeta and nappa moon busting? Does their body take in or I guess you could say absorb, most of the damage? I'd like to say that their bodies absorb most of the damage so that everything around them isn't really damaged to make it simple but how do you explain that? It's all so weird and hard to make sense of. How do you guys think it works?

滅Are you frightened?

Well, I'm sure they can focus their attacks otherwise even a simple moon busting on the planet would result in the planet getting destroyed. Kid Buu on the other hand had no reason to keep Earth existing so mindlessly destroyed it. |

It's inconsistency mainly. Toriyama wanted to juggle being able to battle on a single planet with all the humans alive, along with absurdly strong scaling ki blasts. It didn't work out well in the end. Too many contradictions came up with skilled fighters like Vegeta and Goku not being allowed to aim at planet Earth in fear of destroying it, but later people like Gotenks and Super Buu can aim wherever they want and Earth will remain intact. |

I just put it down to ki manipulation. If you can manipulate ki into forming death beams or homing blasts and stuff, why not be able to control the explosive radius as well? |

Don't you find it hard to believe gohan in the saiyan saga could control the radius of his blasts though? Gohan with a power level of 2800 fired a full power blast at nappa and he deflected it and it barely did anything. A full power blast at 2800 can easily destroy the moon. I know blasts like vegetas self destruction is an example of controlling blast radius, but what about that example with gohan?

Hmm, at the same time is there any reason to think Gohan would have a problem with it? It could be pretty easy for all we know. |

Does a steel knife thrown at 15,000 kilometers/hour blow up a boulder? It would penetrate it some it, sure, but it won't blow it up. Same thing with energy blasts and planets. The key sentence is: Attack potency does not necessarily equate with destructive capability! Edited by bloodstained euphy, Mar 3 2014, 01:59 AM.

I would think that since Ki is still a product of the soul releasing it, intentionality might be a factor. |
